  • The love between these two could move mountains, soo beautiful. I do not want marriage unless there's love like these two. So selfless and giving, true and warm to each other and it comes out in their music. RIP Nick and blessings to the family.

  • Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson are one of the best entertainers that ever lived. Rest in peace, Nick Ashford. You will truly be miseed.

  • You can tell that they really had a good marriage and enjoyed being around each other.

  • R.I.P. Nick Simpson

  • RIP Nick. ):

  • A&S THE MOVIE..STARRING ALICIA KEYS AND JAMIE FOX.. OR MAXELL.. THIS IS SO HARD..THERE IS NO ONE AS FINE. NO WONDER IT HASNT BEEN DONE.

  • What an awesome couple... So much great songs they made

  • I adore these 2. They are a national treasure. The 2 definitely has appeared to become 1.

  • They are so sweet what a wonderful love story.

  • superbe couple c'est d'autant peu rare dans ce milieu. ils rester eternellement jeune? c'est le secret des couples qui durent;

  • these 2 don't get the credit/attention they deserve they were fantastic writers and producers... they were diana ross' best producers. Hope they're at home collecting millions in royalties on their fabulous songs.

  • Absolute divine, a very, very deep bow to A&S. What a legendary couple with unending talent. ZER07

  • They are just so unique....my fave song by them is I'LL BE THERE FOR YOU, originally introduced to me as the extra song on their COOKIES AND CAKE single. I think I read somewhere that Nick Ashford said he didn't think fans were too into COOKIES AND CAKE, and the song never gets any respect (although it is on their greatest hits). Does anyone know how that song did on the charts?

  • I am proud to post that I was a performer in Billy Wilson's musical, Dancin' in the Street, which debuted in Washington, D.C. back in the day. Ashford and Simpson's music was everywhere! What a legendary couple with unending talent. Thank you for this interview posting!

  • That was really ! two beautiful and talented people !

  • TALK ABOUT TWO PEOPLE SPIRITUALLY CONNECTED TO CREATE "THE GIFT OF MUSIC" ...THEY HAVE CREATED A LARGE PORTION OF THE "SOUNDTRACK OF OUR LIVES" THAT MOST PEOPLE ARE NOT EVEN AWARE OF...AND TWO OF THE NICEST PEOPLE I'VE MET IN MY JOURNEY IN NEW YORK RADIO

  • Awesome. Amazing. Thanks for posting the video. Much appreciated. Much love and well wishes to Ashford And Simpson. Forever Solid, baby.

  • True greatness!!!

  • I wish Diana would go back and have them produce an entire album for her. They brought out her best notes and tones and really most exciting singing, especially the Boss and ANMHE. I would love to see a movie on Val and Nick, they are pure love and talent. Thnx for posting

  • Very very nice indeed. Nice to see real love and longevity.

  • I could hear that he said, Nick, are you making this up. If you didn't know his name was Nick, you would think he said, the N word.

  • These two........Wow! Some of the passages in the songs they've written hit me like a StarGate into Love. I thank them for showing me these huge windows of the absolute LightSpeed that one can achieve with music. "Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing" and Nick And Valerie truly are. God bless them!

  • i have been loving A&S for so long, have every one of their early albums. i just loved seeing this interview. so many great songs and lyrics, amazing what they created.

  • Please post "Ain't it a shame"

  • beautiful thanx for postin this incredible interview

  • They have a great sense of humor. And what chemistry. No wonder why they lasted.

  • I'm not sure if anyone else noticed this about them, but it's amazing how they're able to remain stylish even though they're older. A lot of artists/people tend to adopt a more conservative wardrobe as they get older but, A&S can still have style by dressing the way they did when they were in their 20's and 30's. With any other couple it would look like a mid life crisis! Ashford and Simpson is what as Rod Stewart would say, Forever Young.

  • when are they gonna write their autobiography? i know they got a hell of a story

  • Talk about paving the way for the writers and producers of today. Nick and Val WERE the concrete, okay? And, let's not downplay the fact that they started in the church house. To God be the glory! They have inspired me and countless other musicians, singers, songwriters.

  • i LOVE them!! Valerie and Nick remind me of what current artists' LACK! a great voice and timeless lyrics! I hope they come back to San Francisco, CA in 2009. I love you!!! You found a cure!!

  • Whenever I think of the song "Ain't No Mountain High Enough", I always thought of that timeless Marvin & Tammi clip(R.I.P. Marvin & Tammi). Something told me when that song was mentioned, I'd see that clip. I miss that clip. Fact: Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell(in clip at 7:21) were close friends of Ashford and Simpson at Motown.

  • I enjoyed this intrview!Thank You!

  • O MY GOD! I'm so glad to have found this one. You never really get to see this musical duo up and personal. And, I just laughed to hear the story of the song "IM Every Woman." Classic interview.

  • Thank you for posting this interview. Nick is my brother and I missed it. What a fabulous couple they are and I love them dearly. I am so glad I got to see this as I have not seen him in several years. Blessings to you and thank you again...JB

  • I watched this Sunday Morning and was shocked that they aired the interviewer using the N word at about 5:15. In context, it was benign, but I always associate this show with the older generation. Very strange, but great group and good piece on them!

  • The interviewer asked: "Nick" (as in Nick Ashford) are you making this up?

I reference to the low cost of his survival meals in the 60's. He did not use the "N" word. You made an honest mistake but if you listen to the interview with this context you will here what was actually said. It would be offensive and wrong for CBS to air the use of the "N" word in any context.

I hope this clears up the mistake in what you thought was said.

  • @StreetsIllestratedTV i ve listenend to the part no 10 times. sounds pretty much like he said, nigga you are making this up to me..

  • @marcelvogel It did sound like the "N" word, but the 2nd time it sounded like, "Nick, are you making this up?" Maybe "Nick are" sounds like nigga?

  • After reading your comment I watched the interview again and paid attention to 5:15...it DID sound like he said the N word. The way he said it made me laugh.

  • Yeah, the man said the N word.
