  • WOW!!! Fantastic!!

  • @lifetrekfitness

Thank you and Happy New Year!

  • this really hurts my ears. Need a lighter distortion or lower the treble on the distortion or something. It's too sharp.

  • Little too repetitive.

  • @AtariMaxiToriyama

That's the point! In this song at least.

  • @HakanEhn The point is to be repetitive?

Geez, am I out of the loop.

  • QUE BIEN SE OYE ESTO!!!!! GENIAL!!!!

  • nothing musical here, i feel sorry for my ears

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Muito BOOOM. LEGAL!!!!

  • @jaro44449

    Watch my video:

Electro-Harmonix POG2: Heavy Harmonica Hakan Ehn

and read the info in the text box.

  • hey very nice job, I am interested in learn to play harmonica but I don't know much about it and would like to know which is a good harmonica for starters to buy

  • LIKE A BOSS

  • VERY COOL!! GREETINGS FROM ARGENTINA

  • @OttoKrause

    Thank you!

  • great job....!!!!

  • @1karodrigues

    thank you!

  • That is 3 and a half minutes of pure bad assery.

  • Sick

  • hey, i am just about to learn how to play harmonica. i was wondering is it possible to get that kind of sound effect as in the video without mic and amplifier or anything at all besides harmonica?

also i am planing to buy a hohner blues harp harmonica. whats your recommendation for my first harmonica ? [i live in middle-east so i dont really have whole lotta options when it comes to harmonica]

one last question; should i go for the marine band or blues harp ?

  • fukin awesome!!!!!!

  • man love that sound keep on doing A+

  • @starwars8484 - thanks man

  • @HakanEhn HakanEhn - Incredible what you are doing with your harp. I have made the harp mods you suggest. Im playing out of a Harpgear amp with a micropog, slight delay, and a boost pedal - sound is very close to what you have - Im very loud and no feedback. I have a question. Starting at 30 to 44 seconds on your video you go up the scale here. I can not seem to reproduce that scale? Did you retune holes 7,8, or 9? Please advise and keep up the awesome work!! Glenn

  • @Chumpy0071 -thank you!

I am using tounge blocking. Playing

    blow hole 3 and 6

    draw hole 3 and 6

    blow hole 4 and 7

  • @HakanEhn Thank you my friend. It seems when I draw the 3 and 6 octave the 6 seems much flatter sounding then your recording. It sets off a harmonic vibration with the 3. I may have to keep tweaking the 6 until it goes away. Thanks!

  • i know i've heard that riff somewhere... am i delirious from the awsomnes or is there actualy a song with this riff?

  • @Thepepi13

One famous instrumental song from the 60s is of course Green Onions (Booker T & the MGs).

But I think the godfather of this kind of boogie riffs must be Mr John Lee Hooker. I I I just said Mr John - Lee - Hooker

And then, when the white guys knew what direction they should go, Canned Heat, ZZ Top and the other bands followed...

  • Very nice!! congrats!

  • Thank you!

  • great

  • how to kill your blow up your speaker XD

  • WHAT! That was cool!

  • The first part sounds like Green Onions. Oh, and you're awesome.

  • what a sound!

  • Very Very nice! how do you get that heavy distortion on your amp without getting feedback?

  • Thanks! I don´t have an amp, see text box for more info.

  • the distorted signal is played back through the headphones- if you did this with an amp it'd feedback like crazy. Check out jason ricci's equipment video's for advice on how to combat this however

  • I don´t know what you are talking about - but you are probably right!

  • When feedback occurs it's because the mic picks up the sound coming out of an amp/speakers, and replays it instantaneously, and then as soon as it's replayed it picks it up again, which then replays it etc. etc. etc. You don't have this problem with headphones because the mic can't "hear" the sound coming from them.

  • OK. Thanks!

  • wow

that sounded a lot better than i had expected

  • I was just telling how I like your interpretation and the distortiton. Congrats, great job.

  • Thanks for your comments!

  • i love the distortion on it. do u get alot of feedback from using it?

is there any way u can get a filter on it to sound almost electronic sounding? like a synthesizer? im aiming for a sound almost like what u had going at 1:30 - 1:42

u did a great job in this video. i just gotta ask how much does an electric harp / amp/ distortion pedal cost? (only if u know)

  • Thank you!

I don´t use an amp or distortion pedal so I don´t konw the price. I´m playing directly into the recording equipment with effects (see text box for details). So I don´t have feedback problems. I don´t know about filter. I am using the pitch shifter function in my equipment at 1:30-1:42.

  • thanks bud.

me and my friends r trying to get together a progressive metal band featuring a harmonica with a synthesizer filter (trying to sound like a weird noise u'd hear in a rap song)

do u think this is possible to do? (given the right equipment)

  • I don´t know man but it sounds interesting! Let me know if you upload vids with that equipment

  • that's the thing though...i don't know if that equipment exists...so i asked u

  • Awesome! El sonido se distorsiona pero me emociona mucho tu interpretación. Me dan ganas de matar a un religioso. ; )

  • nice green onions dude, maybe try an unplugged version with solo on top

  • thanks! maybe i will. It didn´t work with a solo here because of the heavy distorted sound.

  • does this harmonica u mentioned Hohner Special 20 A play only low heavy metal type notes? if so i want one or do u need an addon to make it sound lower.

  • the info in the text box describes how to get the low sound: with pitch shifter effects

  • I've got a harp I've just been playing casually, and was thinking of experimenting with similar things when I get the time to learn it properly. Awesome to see someone else is doing it brilliantly! Keep it up, look forward to hearing more.

  • yes!

  • i love the 'dirty' sound

  • i like it too!

  • yeah !

  • brutal! \m/

  • You rock dude !!

  • damn brah, you got some killer skill! you should make an instructional vid. or somethin, i'd buy it :D

  • Thank you! Maybe I will

  • fucking awesome

  • You look like Eric Clapton from the nose up, and are awesome.

  • very good

  • Youch it's loud!

    Awesome too!

  • i guess your gain knob goes up to 11.

  • watch your ears!

  • your Awesome :) , i just bought my harp today. Gonna learn some songs.

  • Tack Anton!

  • Awesome, man! I just bought my first harp 2 days ago and so far I can squawk out a pitiful "ode to joy." One day....

  • Ode to joy - it´s a good song!

    Thanks for your comment

  • kick ass!!

  • totally awesome!

  • Tack! Jag ville flytta alla videos till ett ställe.

  • the should make harmonica for guitar hero haha

  • BAMF.

  • im trying to get one tune sounding but i can't get it got any tips??

  • In this video I use the pitch shifter function (pitch lowered one octave down)together with distortion in my BOSS BR-1200CD digital recording studio to get the fat sound. I think it will work with an octave pedal, I haven´t tried that. And as you have seen in the text box, the harp is adjusted.

  • Wow... Your my hero :)

  • Hey ya totally awesome! great job bro. I'm an harper & lover of rock too, and would love a couple videos of you explaining your technique in Heavy Metal harp playing. Thanks in advance! :-)

  • thanks! yes i will probably do that in the future

  • You bringing straight up heat. I can't wait to see you in Ville knocking mf's silly. Yeah.

  • where can i get the tabs for this ?!?!?!? its amazing !!!!

  • thank you, I don´t have tabs right now, but maybe in the future I can show in a video how I play this

  • oh please do share the tabs once you have them, i love this boogie

  • I wanna!!!!!!!

  • hi Hakan,

man your fucking brutal, i watched all your videos, the black and blue is driving me nuts man,

where can i get the tabs for this heave metal stuff>? its awesome

  • Can you do Metallica - Master Of Puppets. That would be very awesome to hear.

  • No that´s too difficult. But I would love to play Metallica, I just need to find the right song for my harmonica. A clear melody, like Die die my darling or a distinct riff, Smoke on the water, is what I need. Maybe Sad But True or The Unforgiven could work.

  • blew mi mind!!

totally awesome, i hope i can get to be as good as you are one day

is it too hard to learn how to play harmonica with an harmonica in key of A?

  • Thanks!

    A is a good key I think. C also.

  • wow this is really awesome!

  • gooooooooood!

  • Du är Kung!! Jag vill med lära mig spela som du!! Lägg till mej som vän annars går de ju inte skriva till dig! ha det gött

  • This guy is a beast!

  • WOAHH...

I really think you're onto something!! I want to hear this with a heavy drumbeat!

  • I actually have drums in the background the first 2 minutes but I let the harp take over.

  • i know, i just think it'd be awesome to hear an intricate heavy one

  • PAINFUL
