@LolNewsful That isn't the point of the helmet. It is there to stop you receiving a head injury if you slip off the ladder (harness would stop you falling to your death). Being up there is no place to be unconscious, someone else can't exactly carry you down.

Some 10yrs ago I did a straight climb to a similar height (1000ft) on a TV tower in the middle east only with no fall restraint, it was not mandatory then and we ponly had pole belts to attach when we got to rest platforms! Straight tower ladder all the way up and yeah when you get to the top those babies sway! The riggers I was with carried ACWL to the top and then swapped it out whilst free- climbing. Scary shit.
