I researched the internet and could not find anything about the cause of his death ... and, 22 years is NOT OLD, especially for his breed. So, does anybody know what happened? On F. & M.'s homepage he is still listed ... nothing about his demise ... weird ... Whatever happened ? And why did they withdraw from Cavalia? It is impossible to find anything ...
If you ever get a chance read Templados book... it is an amazing story of courage, graciousness, spirit, charm and so much more built into the heart and soul of this one particular horse... I keep it on my coffee table and whenever someone asks I tell them the story of Templado.... how could you not love the cover picture as well ~ such beauty
I worked for cavalia several years back in the sfbay area. it was amazing to see the bond pignon and magali had with their horses. I remember one day right after setup in Kent, WA templado threw a fit. the security guard had to call for frederic, who came and talked templado down. the horse just wanted his company! Its hard to lose a horse in any circumstances, but to lose one with whom youve bonded so strongly hurts. I didnt know templado was gone until just now, and its so very sad.
this horses are so beautiful.. i think it would be amazing to have the job that the people in cavalia have. i've seen in the one time it came here, it was so amazing.
@ladylovedoll well, I agree that 22 is "not young", but if you treat your horse right, condition it properly for its specific "work", then 22 is way "too young to die"! If nothing weird happens, you can "work" your horse until it is 30 ... and it can live well into its 30s. And especially his breed matures late and can reach a nice "old" age ;-)
@ladylovedoll 22 is not young but it's too young for a horse to die. We have horses that have lived into their late 30's. We even have a number of horses that are still working as lesson horses in their late 20's. 22 is too young to die.
I didn't know Templado passed away until now. I saw him in person in San Diego back in 2004 i believe and he was just a one of a kind beautiful horse. Rest in peace, my friend.

This touched me so deeply. Templado was so proud, so beautiful. Magnificent and noble-he was the best of everything about his breed.
I hope to see Cavalia someday. I would like to send my deepest sympathy to Frederic Pignons, from one horse lover to another.

SO sorry to hear that Templado passed away.
I have his Breyer, but never got a chance to see him in person.
I can only imagine Frederic Pignon's loss. They had a beautiful, once-in-a-lifetime relationship.
Lovely choice of music, and very, very nice tribute~thanks.
