the only reason their first cd was so heavy, and htis is from aaron lewis' mouth they were just trying to fit into the boston hardcore scene, the whole cd is about the suicide of a man starting with the track tolerate and ending with four walls. ppl just need to understand he has kids now na dhes grown up and the band has evolved now. if u dont like it, listen to this and not their new stuff.
This is the only Staind album I like. It's heavy, dark, and Aaron is pissed. Aaron's anger really fucking made good ass music. But I can understand why he's happy now, but one more heavy ass record like this would be awesome.
This album and Dysfunction are my 2 favorite Staind albums...but i loved Break The Cycle as well....and all their albums are good really....but like most bands i just love their earlier more Raw sound...
@garryOBJ I'm with you 100percent but i must say Dysfunction although i love it sound s like pop music compared to this man this is some heavy kick ass shit
Their 2011 album is gonna be hard like this Garry according to the band
Dysfunction not nearly as good as tormented, dysfunction was pretty much a 'single formula' album.. basically followed the lines of verse >> chorus >> verse >> chorus >> bridge >> chorus on every song, great songs, but not variety like tormented..
@cowboy5632 Yeah i know i loved tormented i liked all the albums but i feel like they have forgotten their old school fans i mean they haven't had a genuine hard song for ages i mean it's at a point i'd settle for dysfuction man lol i mean the latest stuff is so soft as much as i liked to see a little more tormented in their music i can't see it happening they say their new album will be alot heavier then the past few so heres to hoping theres a little tormented coming our way lol but i doubt it
They said the illusion of progress was going to be their heaviest yet lol... the only heavy song really is "This is it"... I think that was a huge let down to most of their fans by lying to us about what the album was going to sound like.. and it is their worst selling album to date.. I do believe the next one will be heavy and hopefuly it sells well .. then they may stick to making heavy stuff from now on
my cousin is the lead guitarrist. no lie! im not making fun of the band, i completely respect the band! i love them i went to see them in boston back in '05! im fucking legit!
Good luck finding it for under $50. If you do, let me know. It was on their web site for awhile but they removed it and it isn't produced anymore. It's considered almost a collector's item now. Maybe you can download MP3's somewhere, I'm not sure. But please, if you find it for cheap somewhere let me know.
Honestly, singers just try to build up all their energy inside and let it violently come out when making anguished albums like this one. If you were to see Aaron on the street in late 1996 after he recorded this, he make actually confront you as a normal person. Not the psychotic nut you may envision. Watch the "Staind Homegrown" video here on youtube. You may actually be surprised that everybody in the band are acting like jokesters. I was surprised.
im just saying you could see him on the street right after he recorded the song and he probably wouldnt act the way ud think. he'd probably just be walking quietly
lol, this album used to be a hidden treasure known only by the hardcore fans \m/....heck I still know people that don't beleive me when I tell them about tormented(and the whole chapter five thing still confuses them...)
theres only 3 albums that most people know of before chapter 5. Dysfunction, Break The Cycle, and 14 shades of Grey...so why would they call their album chapter 5 when its their 4th ? Because dumb people don't know of this peice of art...
He still smokes, but thats not nearly as bad as what he used to do. He rediscovered faith in everything he lost faith in, and he got a little more than that in return. A great music career, a wife, and three daughters. I think the little girl in Staind's vid for "So Far Away" was his first daighter, Zoe Jane. She's a cutie.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for Aaron being happy, and that he's better off mentally, but I REALLY miss their music like this. Tormented and Dysfunction were VERY influential in my life musically. Break the Cycle was alright, but MTV and the radio killed that album quickly, and I've tried giving their newer albums a chance, but they just don't work for me.
i think aaron lewis discovered weed after this album..lol. he's sweet, i've seen him twice live one with seether and papa roach, and once with hinder, and 3 doors down
woah dude, i kinda have that dudes opinion too and i listen to staind a whole lot, theyre the band that got me into heavy music when i was younger and im not a drone, if i were id be listening to my chemical retard lol, i think you need to discover weed dude, and calm the fuck down.
He has a family now, get over it. He's not an angry person. His music is about truth, and it wouldn't make much sense to write music about how angry he is when he's not angry now would it?
haha well that message sure pisses me off.. you fucking loser.. its not about the money its about writing how he feels.. maybe when you lighten up and youre life brightens up youll start to realize his newer shit aint half bad..
As much as I'd like to hear some newer songs like this from Aaron Lewis, he as grown as an artist and a person and I can't fault him for that. I still love everything they do, and Chapter V still had a few somewhat heavy songs on it. Nothing like this, but servicable.
This is probably the song that shows Aaron`s "DESTROY" side if you know what i mean:)...he seems pretty much angry in this song..With the FUCK part and all that screamin...I understand his pain!Love staind foreva but Aaron needs to calm down sometimes:)
lol yeah, i feel like ive seen my own social evolution much like his, anger, lots of anger, hatred for everythign and my self for even subjecting someones feelings like my ex g/fs on mine. then supreme depression and resentment, now im trying to come back, figure ive been thru hell already what can be worse and the flames musta burnt away much of the shit in my past anyways, time to start anew
i miss the old stained but i love the new thumbs up if you agree
