I have a question you might be able to answer. Why is it that I see so many passenger trains being pushed instead of being pulled?

@TheRantingCabbie The reason they are able to isthat the trailing coah is also known as a cabcar. The engineer can sit in this car with a clear view of the tracks and still control the locomotive. The reason why often has to do with the fact that there either isn't a place or enough time to turn the train around at one end of the line. They are typically onlt used on shorter runs.

@TheRandomMoments2011 Take a look at Kingzoid's comment. Part of the reason they don't look as fast is the video quality and frame rate. If you want, I can post videos in HD of these trains that actually look like they're going 90...

@hotcore5312 Umm Why would they? all the superliner cars are used on chief, EB, coast starlight & auto train, prob more. thats not the point. They use those superliners and thats one of amtraks offical paint scemes. They wont touch them for atleast 10+ years.

Nice Vid! BTW: The train at 3:59 has a surfliner painted car with no surfliner lettering on the side, F59PHI 460 is trailing. I wish I could get trains at 90, I have no clue how fast I got, I think I got an acela at 110. Really nice vids!

The starlight tonight between portland and where i got off was doing 83 and in one case then the SOB managed to get her up to 85 keep in mind this is 79mph track.

Eastbound = about 60-70 since they're accelerating out of the station and/or a 60 MPH speed restriction, Westbound would be doing 90.
