My Dad while in the Navy went to Germany in the 50's. He said the country was absolutely beautiful and the people in the pubs were friendly to him knowing that he was in the US Navy and was English. France seized a Soviet ship in the Pacific Ocean off of Indochina. France and Britain condemned the Soviets. They saw the Soviets as a potential adversary that needed to be fought. They did some stuff to them like spying.

We did move back to Germany in the 80's, so both I and my younger sister could have a German education as well as Canadian. Through a military cadence standpoint, the Wehrmact marched elegantly. They WERE going to do something to the Soviet Union. It was called Operation Pike. True story. Britain had plans to go to war with the Soviet Union in 1940 in defense of Finland, but Finland surrendered before the plan could be implemented. France seized a Soviet ship in the Pacific Ocean off of Indochina. France and Britain condemned the Soviets. They saw the Soviets as a potential adversary that needed to be fought. They did some stuff to them like spying.

The Finns captured about 5,600 of the Soviets. The Finns lost 30 tanks the Soviets lost 3500 tanks. The Finns lost 62 aircraft the Soviets lost 515 aircraft. The Finns agreed to peace/truce and gave up some land to end the war because the Soviets were bombing their cities.

Britain also seized Iceland which was part of Denmark, after the government in Denmark fell to the German invasion. All told, out of eight brothers and three sisters, he lost six brothers and one sister in combat. We did move back to Germany in the 80's, so both I and my younger sister could have a German education as well as Canadian. Through a military cadence standpoint, the Wehrmact marched elegantly. The third reich sucked and am glad they got their butts whipped but as a student of history, I am ever so reminded as to just how close Hitler and Germany really got to reaching full fruition, their goals. The management was shitty, that we agree about but the soldiers, the men of the wehrmacht was not shitty at all. In fact they were the cream of soldiering at that time era, like it or not. @lolcatish For one, Germany was already a superpower before the Nazi's rose to power. They just rebuilt an army. Not that hard. Lets think about this. In case you are wondering, my great grandfather was saved by Jewish soldiers in WWI at the Somme when the other Jewish soldier carried him out of a crater when my grandfather was left for dead.
