Duane didn't even start playing slide until just before the ABB formed so he was a musical genius. I wonder where he would have taken his playing and band had he lived?
@lookatyou28 the sound equipment in 71 was light yrs behind what they have now. this was probly recorded by someone in the audience witha portable cassette player, if you ever heard of that
Reading some comments. Hendrix was a good blues player but he was nowhere near Duane. Couldn't touch him. Hendrix was a poet. Duane Allman was a guitar player.
@xavioronassis Fail. I accidentally thumbed you up tho. -.-
Jimi Hendrix is the definition of a guitar player. Wtf are you talking about?? Anyway, noob, Jimi, Eric and Duane are light years ahead of all other players.
@xavioronassis so often people try to compare guitarists and its really not fair. for one, you can compare sports and things because of statistics but in the words of Miles Davis "How can you compare the Arts?" music is an artistic form of creativity, no ones going out there really to one up anyone, rather to create what they hear. you can compare athletes, but not musicians, i mean you can but then youd be a critic not a listener.
Im glad this was unearthed, I think this one was a project for the students there, WOW 6511 views, Go DUANE, the best there eveer was man nobody played like that cat, maybee one day he will be #1 on the list instead of hendrix, Duane had soul he had spirit and a 6 sensce for his guitar, Wail on skydog !!
Duane genuinely felt the soul in the old bluesmen. Little video of him playing exists, so thanks. After reading Duane's bio, I learned something I'd never known about Duane, that he was always a little hyper. Wilson Pickett said Duane was always up, called him Skyman, and the bio said he was always in a hurry. His solos usually go UP. There's even a ghost melody in the Layla high melody, you can hear in one or two places, hinting a minor harmony ABOVE the topmost line. Dune was a climber!
Hey......thanks for this post friend...

Only Dwyane Johnny Winter and Eric Sardinas can make me feel this good. RIP blues man. I hope you went to a place as lovely as your music.
