Honestly, Troy Baker is a great voice actor, and I've loved his other works, and even his performance here is solid, but he's not James. I really hope there's an option to keep the original voice cast... because I fell in love with James's voice in the game.. Troy Baker's just isn't the same.. I personally think Eddie is the only decent one. Maria/Mary I might be able to put up with, but I prefer the originals..
They need to update this shit, back in November they announced Silent Hill 2 will come with an original voice cast option. The same is not true for Silent Hill 3 though.

James' new voice sounds decent, but they shouldn't have changed Eddie's voice. The old Eddie sounded so much more disturbed, you could tell from the first time you met him, his voice echoed a breaking point.
I don't think James' voice is that bad, it at least mostly fits with him. the rest of the voices really don't. I still prefer Guy Cihi as James though.

Well, as much as I love the original, I have to say that these new voice actors will suit it for the 360 and Ps3. Let's leave the original with the Ps2. At least if you have a 360 or/and ps3 plus a ps2, you can still enjoy the original experience and the newer one too.

The voice actors chosen by Team Silent were chosen for their acting ability specifically for the feeling they wanted to convey. To replace the voices is to take away from the authors' intentions.
My opinion isn't really a logical one I suppose but to me it doesn't matter if they're better. To me this is no different than if George Lucas refilmed the parts of Luke, Han and Leia with new actors on a green screen, and then digitally removed Mark, Harrison and Carrie in the next re-relase of the Star Wars Trilogy. Sure they could all be better, but would the quality of their work really matter?

I don't see what working on other games and on anime has to do with Silent Hill. The original voice actors worked on this as well, yet Konami and western developers were more than ready to throw their work out so they wouldn't have to pay them royalties.

Its not that the voices are better or worse, its that the new voices dont reflect the same personalitys in the characters that the original did. And from what ive seen, the original does a better job at describing the emotions of the characters.
The new voice acting sounds far too raspy, almost like they are whispering to each other. It also sounds like they took a cue from the voice of Batman in the new movies. Absolutely terrible :(

Well, as much as I love the original, I have to say that these new voice actors will suit it for the 360 and Ps3. Let's leave the original with the Ps2. At least if you have a 360 or/and ps3 plus a ps2, you can still enjoy the original experience and the newer one too.

Lol. They were going to use Mary Elizabeth for Mary. As much as I love that woman and appreciate her singing for the series, changing Mary / Maria (or anyone, for that matter) was absolutely unnecessary. I'm glad they didn't, if at least for SH2.

The voice actors chosen by Team Silent were chosen for their acting ability specifically for the feeling they wanted to convey. To replace the voices is to take away from the authors' intentions.

My opinion isn't really a logical one I suppose but to me it doesn't matter if they're better. To me this is no different than if George Lucas refilmed the parts of Luke, Han and Leia with new actors on a green screen, and then digitally removed Mark, Harrison and Carrie in the next re-relase of the Star Wars Trilogy. Sure they could all be better, but would the quality of their work really matter?

@impmon12345 It is. Her name is Mary Elizabeth McGlynn but us Silent Hill buffs know her as Melissa Williamson who sings about 95% of the songs from Silent Hill. Honestly I'm looking forward to the game.

I don't see what working on other games and on anime has to do with Silent Hill. The original voice actors worked on this as well, yet Konami and western developers were more than ready to throw their work out so they wouldn't have to pay them royalties.

You know, from an acting standpoint, these new voices are a lot better in terms of which words they emphasize as well as more serious deliveries of the lines. The older voices seem more like old 90's voice acting... Which makes sense because it more or less was.

Ok, that's just being an elitist douche. It's the exact same fucking game with different voices, WHO BTW AREN'T EVEN THAT BAD. (barring Eddie, that was godawful). If anything you should keep Downpour on a close watch instead. It'd be pretty fucking ironic that the HD remakes of the classics get low sales while the new generation SH goes unchecked.

Its not that the voices are better or worse, its that the new voices dont reflect the same personalitys in the characters that the original did. And from what ive seen, the original does a better job at describing the emotions of the characters.

The new voice acting sounds far too raspy, almost like they are whispering to each other. It also sounds like they took a cue from the voice of Batman in the new movies. Absolutely terrible :(

Honestly, the new voice acting isn't any worse than the old stuff. In fact, I prefer the new James. This video sold me on it. Day one purchase.
