@Guevaristas do you really believe that all men are equal? all men are created equal but from that point on we each make of ourselves what we each choose, according to our individual talents and drives. The best possible scenario is to have a government of laws such as ours was once (USA), to allow an equal playing field where people can grow, create, succeed or fail in accordance to talent, skill, work ethic or even luck.
By the way, AmeriKidz, don't feel a need to defend Atlas Shrugged from every... person with access to the internet who only has the time to listen to like half the video and start judging something they've not a clue of. Because this book is better than that, and your wasting your precious time on something completely unworthy. And I'm glad we've a mutual respect for it.
@AvidLearner11 I'm glad you enjoyed it. I hope may more are swayed by it. You are very right to point out that the book alone stands on it's own merit. Isn't it goofy to see all of these quasi communists be so offended by it? They're lucky they never heard a Jim Jones sermon in his heyday! It's all in good fun I suppose ;-)
@AmeriKidz well there is the twin oaks commune in virginia based in bf skinners book beyond freedom and dignity, which might as well be considered a 'scientific' declaration of war again man's mind and man's senses. twin oaks is so perfect, they can only sustain 100 people there, and people flee there every year.
@510shredder Wasn't Twin Oaks that place where they say they're 100% communist, but their main source of income is exporting goods to neighboring (Capitalist) consumers?

Francisco d'Anconia is a sexual loser. He got lucky with a girlfriend in his youth, then had to spent the rest of his life in "secondary virginity" like a fundamentalist christian teenager. Yet he was so ashamed of the fact that he pretended that he still had game.
@conradjulian "Sexual loser"? Interesting take... I think his character is a bit deeper than that tho. Perhaps we only see what we feel we can relate the most to? Do you have any other deep insights to the Atlas Shrugged story line?
I'm finally reading atlas shrugged at age 40 and I have to say it is by far the best book I've ever read. This portion of the book was breath taking and hit the nail on the head. I can see why all the commie liberal instructors denounce this book and steer away. Thank you for posting this video so this portion can be relived.
Fidel Castro got rid of Che` Guevara because Fidel Castro has a MIND. When it became clear to President Castro that Che`did not have a mind, he had no choice but to ship Che` somewhere else, an action virtually identical to God throwing Satan out of heaven. It was a purely executive decision, made for the good of Cuba.
@buzzclick500 Fidel never got rid of Che, he left of his own accord. Have you not read Che's Farewell Letter of 1965? lol. you need to catch up with the rest of the planet
@Guevaristas : I believe that Che honestly THOUGHT he was leaving of his own accord, or left in an impassioned moment of dis-satisfaction and was too proud to admit it later. He was not in charge of the situation, and I believe that may have bothered him. It's very easy for me to imagine the Faithful Guardian of the Castle(Fidel Castro)as an allegorical representation of God, and Che as the same thematic symbol as the devil. When push came to shove, Che had to go.
Fidel Castro's name, translated into our language, is "Faithful Guardian of the Castle." No wonder our government hates him. Our present government can't guard an outhouse.
Positive-minded people avoid negative people; negative people have an active, constant dislike of positive-minded people. Negative people possess no mind, in the strict sense of the word. They are the "people" Ayn Rand describes as the "anti-mind".
In a free Capitalist environment, a person has a good idea, and the wealth follows immediately, because there is no fear or external regulation of the process. In a communist environment the journey from idea to production to success is long and torturous--totally unnecessary and loaded with bureaucratic corruption, culminating in much "social prestige" and little financial reward.
@buzzclick500 there is no truely "free" capitalist system. Capitalism in new zealand is regulated. The idea of a completely "free market" is ,arguably, a substantive myth.
And another thing, capitalism requires collective cooperation in order to function,. The entire system would collapse if it were not for billions of people (wage slaves) compromising and cooperating to some extent and degree.
This is why socialism and communism will always exist-they are eternal verities.
@Guevaristas : There is no truly "free" system. Capitalism requires AGREEABLE collective co-operation, whereas communism and socialism require deception, manipulation and treachery to function. Hugh Hefner, for example, provides a product that has a strong market, and from the beginning, he let our government know that they needed to leave his interests alone and concern themselves with doing their assigned jobs. Henry Rearden in real life.
@Guevaristas : Socialism and communism WILL always exist, as will Capitalism. Without opposing pressure(or awareness of it)there can be no forward movement. That's why God didn't kill the devil a long time ago.
The United States of America is founded on Democratic-Republican values--an even balance between the two concepts. Someone has expended much effort to distort that image grievously. The proper balance is in the process of being re-established. Patience is a virtue; it's the emotional equivalent of gold.
Firstly, it's un-democratic as it champions private ownership of ownership by the workers-the later being the primary producers on society.
Secondly, capitalists make profit by utilizing the wage system as a means to steal from workers. That profit, is, in actuality, produced by the workers and ought to belong to them. The reason is that the capitalist is no better than a modern day pirate, a parasitic leech, a repressive exploiter
realistically, most workers are not revolutionaries, they are consumerists. Most in new zealand, Austrailia, etc could not give a dam about exploitation of workers, they have little or no understanding whatsoever.
They are unaware of their class position as exploited, they are comfortable, properous.
But as all this continues others, millions are suffering.
Is educating the workers the answer?
Should we look to Mexico, latin america, instead of western nations?
@Guevaristas : What is your solution to the situation? Whatever "they" are involved in is not my field of interest. What is YOUR specific solution to the situation?
@Guevaristas : The communist "philosophy" is "kill and steal." I'm familiar with the communist manifesto--15 pages of murder. I've also read some Marx and Engels; I was equally unimpressed.
@sonrouge crap, firstly there has never been a "Communist " system.
Bloodshed?? lol Name a capitalist nation that did not come from bloodshed? Have you studied the british colonization of new zealand for example? See what the Maori here went through. You must be completely blind to the facts and the history to make such an ignorant generalization
@Guevaristas USSR, North Korea, Vietnam, Cuba sure as hell weren't capitalist. Furthermore, America's birth was accomplished without bloodshed (referring to after she gained her independence from Britain, which would have been bloodless had the British not tried to use force to put down opposition to their rule).
@Guevaristas Also, I don't give a flip about Britain. Britain wasn't the first country to base their government on the ideal of man as an end in and of himself. In fact, Britain was the country that tried to prevent that from happening.
@Guevaristas Finally, if you want a clear distinction between statism and capitalism, look at North and South Korea (the latter isn't totally capitalist, but that is the dominant ideal)
Communism's abject failure is not evidence of its viability. You're also confusing Capitalism with Imperialism/Jingoism. Those terms are completely different. The irony of a guy named "Guevaristas" bashing anyone for bloodshed is off the charts.
@elsquibbs you are seriously delluded, and possibly depraved. It's unfortunate that someone like you could not be subjected to a Revolutionary trial, hmm , there's an idea
Common theme among your ilk is to have no tolerance for whom that disagree with you. Thanks for illustrating that for us. No restrictions on my part and, claiming that youtube restricts free speech is foolhardy at best. Russia is a bad example... remember Gorbachev? I hope one day you will realize that Communism is a ponzi scheme.
Take a looky at Guantanamo Bay, you cannot speak of freedom, fair trials, or anything. Also google the slaughter at Mi Lai (Vietnam) and Wounded Knee, the later taking place on your (?, NO) turf
@Guevaristas The reality is in your system their is no incencentive for the distribution system to work. That's why your system fails and even the biggest Communist country in the world, China is adopting capitalism.
Bail outs are not capitalism. In a capitalistic system those companies should be left to die.
your capitalist system is hypocrital. Those companies should be left to die? But they were not were left to die, instead, your capitalist governments used tax-payers money to bail them out of the shit.
You sick capitalist economic system is an epic failure, face it.
New Zealand news-
another finance company just went under: Strategic Finance owe $325 mil. to 13,000 investors. lol
No problem. I know a few people over there and occasionally work in and around that area. Now, if you'd said Detroit.... OH NO!!!! Even the crackheads and Bums can't afford to live there anymore;-)
Thanks for pointing that out. btw, Detroit could be described as the communist capitol of the US. Please, also refer to "the 20th century motor company" as an analogy to the "Detroit Ghetto". I envy you sir for living in NZ. I plan to visit/move there soon. I agree you guys have it better there!
Have you actually read Atlas Shrugged? What portion of the above video do you take issue with most?
as you would know, the first, earliest phase of Communism is called "socialism". Under this phase there is inequality, there are laws, there is a government.
However, this is only a transitional phase. Eventually the socialist state "withers away" (Engels term) leading towards a Communist society. A society with no state, no government etc etc
Communists are opposed to governments, yet it's existence is unavoidable at the socialist phase
The mythical utopia of stateless communism never occurs because Socialism is always evil and always leads to injustice. The way to eliminate the state is to promote capitalism (justice) not socialism (injustice).
Engels is either a complete idiot or a diabolical saboteur. His ideas are dangerous. Only a fool would follow them. Only a cruel villain would promote them.
I was remaining civil. I did not direct any insults toward you personally. I give you the benefit of the doubt that you are ignorant rather than villainous.
Socialism is intolerable because for a collective state to exist, it must intrusively deny the freedom of every individual member. A state founded upon liberty can allow members to form collectives, but a state founded on collectivism cannot allow any liberty. Therefore governments must be founded upon liberty, not given excessive power.
@Guevaristas : President Rosefield started the socialist trend in America; the assassination of President Kennedy jolted our government(not US)into the communist phase--an atmosphere of fear and frustration throughout all levels of society. Our government is realizing it has created something it can no longer hope to control. The media tries hard to disguise the damage with rhetoric and platitudes, but Americans are in fact smarter than we like to appear.
Companies do not "die". Companies that fail to satisfy customers enough to be compensated well fail to meet their obligations. Companies are then liquidated to cover debts. Assets go to more productive uses. Capitalism is the only just system. There is no alternative. Honesty is the best policy. And only capitalism is honest.
Capitalism is a brutal economic system that relies on the repression of miliions-reduced to wage slaves. Haiti and India are both capitalist nations with extreme poverty.
You must be incredibly delluded to make the claim you have made
Honesty? You must be joking: wage slavery is about extracting a surplus value from workers by not paying them the full value of their work. This is how the cappy makes his profit. Profit is theft. Theft is dishonesty
No. Capitalism is a JUST and HONEST economic system. Poverty, such as in India and Haiti, are caused by socialism -- POVERTY IS CAUSED BY GOVERNMENT. Capitalism is the solution to poverty.
You are incredibly BRAINWASHED and ignorant.
Low wages are caused by insufficient capitalism.
Socialist government is the cause of all poverty.
Profit comes from SATISFYING your customer. Profit is JUST. The capitalist makes his profit honestly. Only the government makes money from dishonesty.
The capitalist goes into business, gets into debt etc etc for the primary purpose of making a profit. Do you not realise this fact?
Why do you think the wage system was invented? Workers are paid by the hour, NOT for the work they actually do.
Profit is theft, as it was produced by workers and is stolen from them and called "profit". Profit is whats left over after the cappy has paid production costs and overheads etc
The capitalist gains success by satisfying customers, therefore the capitalist's profit is MORAL. The wage system was invented to enable successful, moral entrepreneurs to expand their successful, moral businesses and to satisfy more customers. Wage earners gained skills and profited from their labor.
@Guevaristas : Capitalists do NOT go into debt to start a business--that would be the socialists and communists, who have no intention of paying the "loan" back in the first place. Henry Ford paid his workers the unheard-of-wage of five dollars a DAY in 1914, because HE felt they deserved it, not because any government agency told him to.
@Guevaristas : Hmm. Good question. I was born in the socialist phase, so my Capitalist role models are mostly from a previous age--John Delorean comes to mind. The government set him up and made it impractical for him to do business in America. John Delorean, yes. Socialists and communists will not tolerate honest or fair people in their presence. Makes sense.
@Guevaristas : You've confused the Capitalist system with the communists, who pay as little as they possibly can to produce shoddy product. Their 'Services" are worthless because they have no concept of serving anyone's interests but their own. Theft is the only profit that communists know. See how simple it is?
@Guevaristas The hypocrisy of the united States is that it is not a capitalist nation, verily there is no such thing....
Sorrily I must be the one to announce this, there are only levels of tyranny in states, there is no freedom in an environment where one is coerced to answer to others just for living...
@Guevaristas The United states has not been a true capitalist system for many years now. Our government intervenes and destroys, then blames the failure on Capitalism. True Capitalism cannot fail, in a true Capitalist Society no Business would ever be bailed out by the gov't. Get your facts straight Guevaristas before you make foolish comments over the internet.
@Guevaristas The reality of capitalism is that, nothing is stopping you from being a communist by joining a commune if you choose. In fact - I'd recommend for you creativeideasforyou(dot)com ...or is that not what you really want? Perhaps you already live in a commune and have come to determine that it can only succeed if capitalists like me are gunned down in the street like the failed revolutionaries you hold so dear would have done? Who is stuck in a past time my sad sad friend.. it's not me.
The U$A is a changing place. Who would have believed Obama would have ever got in? You have to sustain capitalism, like any system.
The present capitalist crisis has shown the immense cracks in the system's superstructure. How long can this system of subjugation and exploitation continue?
Many capitalist countries suffer in dire poverty, India and Haiti, are but two examples
@Guevaristas Well, don't paint a better Mona Lisa simply by burning Leonardo's original! Look, no offense but -tell me what country is the best model for your brand of communism?
@Guevaristas Actually what you're talking about is called crony-capitalism, it's where the government passes laws that hinder true capitalism in order for the richest companies to get bigger. That's what the U.S. has right now. The government is to blame for accepting bribes and writing laws that are unethical.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
but they are not paid the full amount for their efforts, they are paid a wage open hour. That wage does not correspond to what the worker actually produces.
If it did, the capitalist would not make the profit s/he does
@Guevaristas the full amount of their efforts as defined by whom? Two consenting adults decide what that "full amount of their effort" is worth. If I decide that my time is worth more than what my potential employer is paying I can refuse the job offer and go elsewhere. Assuming a normal, ungoverned capitalist economy, if I estimate my time to be too valuable I will not find another job willing to pay what I want, if I am accurate, I will.
Gold is corrupt, it is an illusion of mind to accept any of this worldly crap. Money or gold or silver or digits in a computer screen, are all scams on humanity, The people who make the rules have the Gold and the money, that is all the money is for, to keep slaves working. The rich do no work, the only work they do is to come up with laws to make other people work for them, and they pay cops money to boss the people around. At the casino the house always wins. Money is the root of inequality
Friend, I abhor your mysticism in terms of 'worldly crap'. That line of thinking is dull and unattractive. Am I to ponder for hours a question like; What's more important -my perception of reality or, the reality of my perception? It is what *I* make of it.
I counter your comment with a quote: "What is needed is a realization that power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is power correcting everything that stands against love." MLK, jr.
If not for money then who would do the work? Who would do roofing, or work in slaughter houses, etc? Do you expect men and women to live for each other? The powers that be don't want us to have gold because if we did we might value things more. Citizens might start to demand logic from these people and we can't have that.
Money is not a fair system of trade, it never has been, why? Ever since money has existed taxes have existed. When they tax the population, they make promises to use the money for the community, but they cannot be held accountable and corruption ensues. The bible even talks about paying tax to Caesar. Taxing is a scam, follow the money, it goes mostly to pay for the war machine of empires. Those who decide where the tax goes, have special interests and get kickbacks from government contracts.
It is the fairest by far my friend. I hate taxes too but, you state a very simplistic view and a bit misguided. You should try and read Atlas Shrugged cover-to-cover. I think you may actually understand what this video really means. You just may go Galt;-)
You hear it said that we must share our wealth with the less fortunate. Taking my money from me with the threat of imprisonment is not 'sharing'-it's robbery. And who gets to judge what people living under what conditions are to be labeled 'less fortunate'? Apparently not me. Mustang607 said it well. Remember that you cannot call it voluntary, or co-operation, or sharing when it is done with a gun to your head. I refuse to 'co-operate' any longer. I'm pulling a 'John Galt' and dropping out.
Your not alone. Hundreds of thousands of people are dropping out and 'going Galt' by moving out of states like California and Michigan to states like Texas. Personally, I think it's time to move to New Zealand.
@mustang607 where do you think government gets the money it gives away? It gets it from achievers, from people who first think and then act based on its resultant - intelligence.
Today, the most money is made mostly by those who can best manipulate government. Not by individual effort and reason but by using the guns of looters.
The root of all evil isnt money but want what you will do to get it.

In a free Capitalist environment, a person has a good idea, and the wealth follows immediately, because there is no fear or external regulation of the process. In a communist environment the journey from idea to production to success is long and torturous--totally unnecessary and loaded with bureaucratic corruption, culminating in much "social prestige" and little financial reward.
buzzclick500 1 year ago
@buzzclick500 there is no truely "free" capitalist system. Capitalism in new zealand is regulated. The idea of a completely "free market" is ,arguably, a substantive myth.
And another thing, capitalism requires collective cooperation in order to function,. The entire system would collapse if it were not for billions of people (wage slaves) compromising and cooperating to some extent and degree.
This is why socialism and communism will always exist-they are eternal verities.
Guevaristas 1 year ago
@Guevaristas : There is no truly "free" system. Capitalism requires AGREEABLE collective co-operation, whereas communism and socialism require deception, manipulation and treachery to function. Hugh Hefner, for example, provides a product that has a strong market, and from the beginning, he let our government know that they needed to leave his interests alone and concern themselves with doing their assigned jobs. Henry Rearden in real life.

@Guevaristas USSR, North Korea, Vietnam, Cuba sure as hell weren't capitalist. Furthermore, America's birth was accomplished without bloodshed (referring to after she gained her independence from Britain, which would have been bloodless had the British not tried to use force to put down opposition to their rule).
sonrouge 1 year ago
@Guevaristas Also, I don't give a flip about Britain. Britain wasn't the first country to base their government on the ideal of man as an end in and of himself. In fact, Britain was the country that tried to prevent that from happening.

It is socialist government that fails.
Capitalism is always the answer.
Government is the problem.
herbs814 1 year ago
as you would know, the first, earliest phase of Communism is called "socialism".
Guevaristas 1 year ago
@Guevaristas
Only a cruel villain would promote them.
herbs814 1 year ago
just hold you horse a moment and attempt to remain civilized, even though it must be difficult.

Guevaristas 1 year ago
I was remaining civil. I did not direct any insults toward you personally. I give you the benefit of the doubt that you are ignorant rather than villainous.
Socialism is intolerable because for a collective state to exist, it must intrusively deny the freedom of every individual member. A state founded upon liberty can allow members to form collectives, but a state founded on collectivism cannot allow any liberty. Therefore governments must be founded upon liberty, not given excessive power.
herbs814 1 year ago
@Guevaristas : President Rosefield started the socialist trend in America; the assassination of President Kennedy jolted our government(not US)into the communist phase--an atmosphere of fear and frustration throughout all levels of society. Our government is realizing it has created something it can no longer hope to control. The media tries hard to disguise the damage with rhetoric and platitudes, but Americans are in fact smarter than we like to appear.
buzzclick500 1 year ago
@Guevaristas
Companies do not "die". Companies that fail to satisfy customers enough to be compensated well fail to meet their obligations. Companies are then liquidated to cover debts. Assets go to more productive uses. Capitalism is the only just system. There is no alternative. Honesty is the best policy. And only capitalism is honest.
herbs814 1 year ago
you are sounding like Mary Poppins.
Guevaristas 1 year ago
Only the government makes money from dishonesty.
herbs814 1 year ago
you have no idea at all
The capitalist goes into business, gets into debt etc etc for the primary purpose of making a profit.
Guevaristas 1 year ago
@Guevaristas
The capitalist gains success by satisfying customers, therefore the capitalist's profit is MORAL. The wage system was invented to enable successful, moral entrepreneurs to expand their successful, moral businesses and to satisfy more customers. Wage earners gained skills and profited from their labor.
Profit by the capitalism is entirely moral.
herbs814 1 year ago
@Guevaristas : Capitalists do NOT go into debt to start a business--that would be the socialists and communists, who have no intention of paying the "loan" back in the first place. Henry Ford paid his workers the unheard-of-wage of five dollars a DAY in 1914, because HE felt they deserved it, not because any government agency told him to.
buzzclick500 1 year ago
Question:
can you name any capitalist who does not make a profit from his/her workers?
On what basis do you justify this profit?
Guevaristas 1 year ago
@Guevaristas : Hmm. Good question. I was born in the socialist phase, so my Capitalist role models are mostly from a previous age--John Delorean comes to mind. The government set him up and made it impractical for him to do business in America. John Delorean, yes. Socialists and communists will not tolerate honest or fair people in their presence. Makes sense.
buzzclick500 1 year ago
@Guevaristas : You've confused the Capitalist system with the communists, who pay as little as they possibly can to produce shoddy product. Their 'Services" are worthless because they have no concept of serving anyone's interests but their own. Theft is the only profit that communists know. See how simple it is?
buzzclick500 1 year ago

rabiesisnice 2 years ago
Money is not a fair system of trade, it never has been, why? Ever since money has existed taxes have existed. When they tax the population, they make promises to use the money for the community, but they cannot be held accountable and corruption ensues. The bible even talks about paying tax to Caesar. Taxing is a scam, follow the money, it goes mostly to pay for the war machine of empires. Those who decide where the tax goes, have special interests and get kickbacks from government contracts.
