If you go to an import car show like HIN, you see riced out garbage. So that's representative of each respective segment. There aren't many "tuners" out there that DON'T put a bunch of exterior modifications on their cars in the form of stickers/body kits/lights/wings/etc. There's some, but not nearly as many.

Muscle cars always have power ratings that are lower than actual output. Imported tuners always have power ratings that are way higher than actual output. A 1.6 liter 4 cylinder putting out 180 horsepower (heavily modified) simply can't compete with a 7.5 liter V8 putting out 400 horsepower and 500 ft/lbs of torque.

There are a few reasons why but mainly it was for the looks.. the EVO X is the meanest looking car out there. It is also incredibly fast. I beat a 911 turbo in a drag race. I also beat a z06. nothing can touch the evo (not even an sti)... EVO > than any other car for the price (even most more expensive)

Most of the jap performance cars have always had higher top end speeds and the engines would hold together better for the long high speed runs. Problem is here in the US we don't have many places for long high speed runs so we op for the quick instead of fast. Unless you have a thick wallet to pay tickets.
