Think it was a shoelace. How I would know why it was there, I don't know. My guess is someone needed an extension on the pullchain and didn't know you can buy actual chain extensions, or just didn't want to get them.
It's a plaster ceiling (OLD house), thus no junction boxes. The fans were pulling the screws out of whatever bit of support was holding them up, and thus were on the verge of falling. Westinghouse had its speed chain yanked out, and the SMC Vienna had a fried capacitor.
#1: I mounted different blades on it outside. #2: I put more pitch on the brackets when I put it outside, thus it IS the one that was outside and you really need to stop contradicting everything I post.
I don't know the exact rate off hand, I don't get involved with
financial stuff yet, I just know that it's a really good rate. They pretty much pay for electric, cable, etc. and a small amount to the land lord. Electric is gonna kill for the winter though with all the baseboard heaters. One was on accidentally, and that ONE heater created an OUTRAGEOUS electric bill. I think it was $130 or so, it made the meter run faster than when I have all my garage fans on. YIKES! That was a long comment!
Those pipes are for the old radiators, now non-working. It's an old house, and has no doubt housed many generations of family and students. It's really not a bad house, just needs some paint and cleaning. It was their choice of house, and the price is CHEAP.
On A Scale From 1-10, 10 Being Best, I'd Rate This About A 3-4 I Have One In My Bedroom, And It Runs Silent. You Just Need To Make Sure you Hang It Correctly Or It Will Be Loose. Most Of Todays Light Kit's Have Candlebra Bases Blah.
It may go upstairs, or to Habitat. The Westinghouse in the kitchen will most likely be donated or trashed. I'm going to keep the SMC that's in a bedroom.
Just to follow up here, this fan got hung outside on the patio. It's been rained on and everything, and I must say I'm impressed! The bearings are still practically silent, the blades are hardly sagging at all, and it got all cleaned up in the rain. =)
I know, right? I was blown away. It's been out there for at least 2 months, and it still works well, and creates a niceish breeze as I pitched the brackets a bit steeper.
I hear ya. I can't hang any out door fans outside becuase I don't have a patio with a roof, or maybee I could make some 2x4's hang the fan. One big one connects with two shorter ones going into the ground. The big one supports the fan. Hmmm....
I used to own a 52'' Armitage and the air flow was very bad, even worse than a 44'' Hunter Coastal Breeze ceiling fan. I would say they are about the same as the Littleton fan in performance. Compare these to a Casablanca Capistrano ceiling fan, the Capistrano beats these fans in performance and style. I used a Capistrano ceiling in my grandparents older home in Plymouth. It was in their living room. It operated with a wall control with up and down sliding, one for dimming one for fan speed.
What's that thing tied to the other string? Why is it there?

what do you mean that the fans are falling off the ceiling? How come the other 2 dont work? what model was the smc?

Doesn't Zachary Yarnes have the SMC in her house now?
ImmaFanBeast 11 months ago
I sold that fan to Zachary before they even moved into the house. Replaced it with some Her!t@ge crap, but at least it worked, as the SMC did not.

It is wrong. The blades are tan, not white, and the blade iron is not very tilted. It is definetally not hanging outside of the house.

Is this the same littleton that you have hanging outside your house?

The very same.

Yep, the ceilings are in bad shape. It's a college house, so they don't get much attention.

How is the airflow? I have been around similar fans and their airflow I thought was rather poor.

It's Prity Good For A Fan That Is $15 Dollars At Homedepot. You Can Hear The Breeze Agenst The Mic In This Video I Think.
skyman2002 2 years ago
It's not bad, but the recently down graded the fan again, it's much worse now.
mpsslovak 2 years ago
Poor, very poor. That's why it's outside. ;)
mpsslovak 2 years ago
I had some experience with one of these and thought it was a POS, but it is a 20 dollar fan so what do you expect.
MSNIMSM 2 years ago
Yeah, I agree it's a POS. The 2009 model is even uglier, and the motor is no longer SMC. It's a sad day in the world of fans.
mpsslovak 2 years ago
You mean sad era. Their should be quality standards here.
MSNIMSM 2 years ago
What ever. Yeah, there were the supposed RPM restrictions back in the day, that's the least of the problems now. =P
mpsslovak 2 years ago
Well, it is time to enforce these standards. I am tired of seing junk every ware.

I think the Wall-Mart hugger in my base ment is beter built than this. This makes Hampton Bay look worse than they already are.
MSNIMSM 2 years ago
Yeah, this one is drying the carpet as we speak, and will soon be replaced with something remotely better.

What are you gonna do with the old fan? Death sounds good! ] : D

Ok. Atleast it has a second chance at life.

We were out there tonight. It felt good to have a breeze on us, no matter how tiny the breeze was. I'd like to get a real outdoor fan out there.

You should see th Harbor Breeze Armitage Hugger fans, they are cheap kind of like this one.
doughnutser256 2 years ago
I've seen those, they are just as bad, maybee worse.

I didn't have enough room to explain what dimming was. I meant to say light dimming.
doughnutser256 2 years ago
The Capistrano ceiling fan was in a Navajo White finish with 21'' Navajo White blades making it a 53'' diameter ceiling fan.
doughnutser256 2 years ago
I got one simular to this and it is now spare parts, That and vintage fans will eat these alive.

I also forgot to mention that the Capistrano is much more durable and will last much longer than a cheapo fan like this.

hay mpsslovak my grandma has that same celing fan only the blads are wite

You should make a video of all of her fans, even if they don't work. what's she gonna do about all the nonworking fans?
fanowner12 2 years ago
We'll get new fans, I don't know what. They would ideally be Littletons as they are going in a college house.
