to rasjvon, the mandolin player is the guitar player's dad and taught him to play guitar and mandolin, so i doubt they want to shoot him. most mandilin and guitar players can't hold a candle to mr tolbert. and the great thing about bluegrass is it is seldom played exactly the same, note for note, every kickoff and break. if it was, it would be boring, like the dixie chicks. i'm looking forward to jamming at barry's this year
I'm using a Sony HDR-SR11 that records in 5.1 surround sound. It cuts out a lot of the crowd stuff. The HD video along with the sound is awesome on a home system.
I was at a thing like this this year too... either you have a much better directional microphone, or your crowd is much quieter about listening to the musicians!
