@mrmeister81 Command needs to step back and view the whole picture. If Command is up on the "trenches" then he will miss important information from the troops on the ground and sometimes wont call out assignments leaving people clueless. Reading smoke, setting up RIT crews, Primary and Secondary search crews, attack lines, safety officers, Roof Ventilation Crews, and water supply are just some of the things Incident Command will need to think about during a structure fire.
@mrmeister81 The Chief or the IC is doing exactly what he is supposed to do.. The IC should not have to get out of his buggy or what you might call a suburban ... His duty is to delegate tasks to his fire companies and most important his firefighters safety!
During WW2 was General Patton on the front lines during battle? Nope, he was safe and sound in his Jeep... A good leader leads from the side lines, a good leader trusts his troops and their abilities to handle the job...
You have added another slide to the tray for alot of us watching your videos. Thanks so much for the effort you put in to bettering the fire service through your experience. I hope it catches on!
Very well run operation. Couple of questions for you. What is the staffing on the engines and truck companies? Also do the units go on scene with the "city" on another freq. or talk group or do you use terminals for the arrival?
Missing your videos, Chief! You working on anything?
