  • I think she looks better with the curls to be honest. Makes her face look younger and it looks professional

  • @princessKayification AMEN TO THAT AMEN TO THAT AMEN TO THAT!!!!!!

  • You Look BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!

  • I love this... I just did a straw set with actual straws to my hair..wasn't aware of the strawllers...def gonna look those up and wonder if they work better than the original straw set routine...

  • @princessKayification Yes it is!!

  • She look better with her hair curly.

  • I guy said" Keep it I like It". I like it too!

  • I'm a tv news reporter. I'm natural and wear my own curly hair when I'm off but I wigs on tv b/c it's easier in the wind, rain, heat, ect. this anchor acts like she's paronoid about public opinion while coworkers and viewers are begging me to wear my real hair on air. If you'd rather have a heart attack and die to keep your hair straight, you need a priority check. I workout and I wash 3 times a week anyway so doesn't matter. PS.. I'm ethnic and I have fine hair..

  • i love it....shoot!!!! now i want some curls!!!!

  • I think the male anchor was a little disrespectful. "What did you do to your hair!" Why not say "I see your hair is different, how did you achieve that look?"

  • I like the curly look she looks great with it, and it is society that says what professional looks like, and i think that curly can be professional.

  • sigh... idk if i appreciate her or if i'm angry. she makes it seem as if having "ethnic" hair is the pits. I think she needs to check out that sesame street video.

  • I think she looks better with the new style. Go #teamnaturalhair!

  • taken a back, what the heck smh she looks beautiful with that style

  • major side eye to this news segment....

  • " keep it robin I like it"

they should date , they'd be cute haha!

  • Hair is NOT an excuse to not work out. That's absurd!

  • where is this? i love that they took the time out to put this on tv

  • @mjjcng8958 Chicago, my dear. That is our very own Robin Roberts

  • I like this!! And it's not to say that relaxed women don't care about their health or cannot work out, but it really does give you something to think about. I know i work out more since i became natural, for that simple reason of it doesn't get flat and oily when i sweat....

  • That is ridiculous that they even made a segment on this. Women should wear their hair how they want whether it's curly or straight and not focus on whether or not it's "too ethnic" If you are a professional woman and carry yourself well than your hairstyle won't matter.

  • @Beautifu1B1urr You'd be surprised how something as trivial as hair does make an impact on women and their jobs, especially in the corporate world.

  • @TRUTHBTOLD01 Oh I believe it as sad as it is. I recently read a study that said overweight women don't make as much as thinner woman in the work force. That is insane. It shouldn't matter how your hair is or how big your butt is, if you can do the job that should be all that matters...but sadly that isn't the case much these days.

  • I actually like it alike. The style really looks good on her.

  • LOVE it curly. She looks younger and just better. I can't believe this is addressed in so "shocking" a manner, even apologizing for it. For God's sake, if you have curly hair, HAVE CURLY HAIR.

  • I went natural 1 1/2 ago- now I don't have to worry about swimming, rain or anything. I have type 3c, little ringlets, and I have never gotten so many compliments.

  • Why are they reporting this on the news? When they report about what European-American women do with their hair on the news, I'll pass out from shock.

  • @Abena20 because many ethnic women believe they "have" to straighten their hair for a professional look, I don't buy it.

  • @SydVicious2000 Please, I'm African-American, I'm natural, and I know how hard it is. But I don't like the media scrutiny. I'm not a bacteria under a microscope, so stop studying me. The media paints the picture that we have an odd obsession with our hair, and I'm sick of it.

  • @Abena20 When you actually pay attention to how much the black hair care industry actually grosses, then you will understand that it's not only media who is obsessed with "ethnic" hair. The average black women has plenty of beauty products for hair alone

  • I think she looks pretty!! It's a shame that having your natural hair is considered ethnic...and is looked down upon. I mean if we can't be ourselves, who are we supposed to be?

  • How can something (i.e. hair) that's natural/inherent to my biology be "unprofessional"...umh! I feel sorry for women who feel like they don't have the voice, vote, or authority to just be themselves!

  • what the eff!?!?! I'm kinda offended by this. LOL She is making it seem like natural hair isn't really pretty, but its easier for exercise. This news segment is totally lame. I love my naturally curly hair and I wear it out and wild to work all the time... is it really that serious? no.

  • if i only spent as much time in the gym as i do on my hair....

  • no whites and others wear their hair out natural so whats wrong with us wearin it natural

  • she looks more real and more beautiful for sure!!

  • The curly style is definitely professional. Straight shouldn't be the only the option.

  • As a black Chicagoan female, I think Robin Robinson was awesome for doing this. This made my day!!

  • I liked the video but the word ethnic is misused. The word ethnic has to deal with all sorts or different races and cultures. It does not only describe those who are of African descent (which is how I believe that she was using the word in this video. However, I liked the message that was being sent and that it encourages women to get healthy and not allow the fear of messing up their hair stop them from working out.

  • Can't decide if I feel empowered or offended.

  • @Oonagh72 LOL not going to lie, I was pretty offended by this.

  • y is this such a big deal? golly

  • How can black people having curly hair be unprofessional vs. a white woman wearing her hair curly? Sounds bias to me. No one is going to change how my hair is because they don't like it.

  • There is nothing unprofessional about having curly hair.

  • I really liked this video and the message. I hope I'll be able to wear my natural hair without a blow-out in the professional world someday soon!

  • @entropy9 Like they said in the video, we need to just start doing it! I work for a professional tax and legal service and I just decided one day to wear my twist-out. Nobody (meaning the higher-ups) had anything negative to say. In fact, most of my co-workers were impressed. I like this video because it highlights a very important point - that black women are still not able to be truly accepted. Unfortunately, many still view us negatively unless we alter what God naturally gave us.

  • @eklectiktoni I have been able to do it at my new job. I made sure my hair was natural at the interview so they wouldn't be surprised and no one has said anything! I mean they hired me, so I guess they are ok with it. it's a relief, because it's much healthier now that I can stop using so much heat.

  • Yay Robin! Great story!

  • That is right sista!!!!

  • I love this! altho in this last 10 secs did anyone else hear the "thank goodness there's one" when she was referring to the advantages ethnic hair. thats exactly the mind set we need break our hair is BEAUTIFUL and actually very versatile just ask any natural head

  • wow, i never knew woc had to put that much effort into their hair. This truly makes me sad. =(

  • @sashkalitcheski You have NO idea.

But it's fun! At least, I think it is. :)

  • What radio station is this? I like that anchor she's very bold. Most of the anchors on tv are like robots with fake personalities.

  • these strawllers look great! BUT...how can women do it..if they don't have a perm..it seems like the women interviewed either had naturally curly hair or relaxed hair..what if you dont have anything in your hair..WHAT DO U DO? is the product reliable for these type of women?

  • love this video!!!

  • LOL I actually found this video on a vlog!

  • What a great segment! The day 'textured hair' society seeks zero approval for their God given beauty will be a very formidable day in the history books. I love the look and yes people, it is professional.

  • Her hair is BEAUTIFUL. I am going to start experimenting with roller sets soon.

  • I LOVE IT. And I love that you had the courage to stand up for your true authentic hair type ... finally. You are beautiful, and that set just enhances your true beauty

  • @pickneyenterprises Oh my God, I wish you would see more black ladies on TV like this. That's why I compromised my beliefs and wore wigs to work. To conform!

If we saw this more than we would stop doing things to make white people more comfortable. What about us!?

  • I hate how he says what did you DO to your hair, as if its something horrible. It looks soooo good on her.

  • yeah i feel you on that...what the heck! It's just curly. I hate how the narration keeps saying women with ETHNIC hair..it's not ethnic...it's natural! white people have ethnic hair as well, like we're the only ones with ethnic hair. Why @3:50 she has to say that? "not to startle you or distract you with my appearance."

  • wtf! I know, distract?? lol umm and how is wearing a straw set making a statement? omg, geez...yes i soo agree with you. Everyone has ethnic hair, since everyone is part of a ethinc group. I hope she kept that style. (you r beautiful *peeks at channel*)

  • Actually white people don't have ethnic hair unless they go to a non-white majority country. If u look up the word ethnic in the dictionary, ethnicity is something only minority groups have within a country.

  • She does not relax. She presses her natural hair. She BCD due to chemotherapy.

  • She looks the same....her co-worker is making a BIG DEAL out of NOTHING. So silly and annoying, it is just hair and the style looks great on her.

Natural hair is professional. There are certain styles that are not professional but one cannot say that straight hair is more professional than curly hair.

  • heavy girl getting healthier. Going natural. Go Robin!!!!

  • i sware on my whole life this is my auntt :) ask me anything about her i will answer!!!

  • I have issues with this...what does she mean "if you dont have problems, then I wont remove it" it is not up to anyone how she wears her hair. Professional means NEAT. THAT IS ALL! I have been natural since 1994...it is a shame we are still having this conversation this day and age.

  • WELL SAID SISTA!!!

  • Very well said. This video is informative to who? I hate that we have to make excuses for wanting to wear our hair natural, the way that it grows out of our heads. No one else has to explain.

  • You go Robin! I'm so proud of you. It's too bad that you had to ask for the audiences approval but I LOVE THIS SEGMENT! FYI to the lady who feels that relaxers "make (her) hair grow"...they don't. They are just chemical straighteners that make your hair appear longer but can seriously damage your hair if you don't know what you are doing! EXERCISE IS MORE IMPORTANT!!

  • Go Robin!

  • dont get me wrong, natural hair is WAY CUTE!! i will never b happy nappy bc my hair is way to thickkkkkkkk and relaxers calm that stuff right on down! i applaud women that have the strength to go natural.

  • Natural hair should just be a look or an allergy alternative. i hate wen ppl say "oh natural hair makes ur hair grow faster n healthier" bc i been wearing relaxers 4 ever &its been helping my hair(& every1 that goes to the same salon i go to) grow faster than anything. its the type of relaxer! STAY AWAY from box kit relaxers bc they have generic materials that r not healthy. Get professional relaxers such as "Design Essentials" (the 1 i been using for 2 years

    now ), or "kera care".

  • I love Robin's usual look (with the relaxer). Her hair always looks so healthy, shiny and neat. I live in Chicago too.

WHAT SALON DOES SHE GO TO FOR HER STYLES AND RELAXERS????

  • her hair isn't relaxed, it's pressed

  • I Love It, I'm a recently natural sister and I can't wait until the time comes when all sisters feel comfortable in all places in their natural hair. Curls Rock !!!

  • This is pretty good.. :-)

  • I think she looks lovely with that hair style.

  • @lizb233 sorry i accendently voted this comment down , i didnt mean to i didnt even read the comment lol im trying to take it back but ... :\ sorry

  • @GurlAsha Ahhh don't worry about it girl thats ok

  • wow... her cleavage is all out... nevertheless, thanks for tthe awareness.

  • I loved your video. I came across a site that will help your channel/video become more popular. It has really helped me out a great deal. The name is Tubeviews . Net

    steven
