The issue with twilight is the pussification of vampires.The "die-hard' vampire fans are more and more disgusted with the steady decline of vampires. They used to be telepathic/telekinetic, necromantic dark gods who commanded entire armies of evil creatures (including werewolves). Attempts to portray "modern" vampires keep trying to make them trendy (see buffy), until now they're apparently high school kids who sparkle in the sun. Oh, how far we have fallen. T_T

@KausticX i believe that's the point. all the modifications to the vampire archetype, e.g. super strength, super speed, heightened senses, immortality, great beauty, glittering skin, they're not really vampires, more superhumans with the tendency to drink blood. it seems that the point of twilight isn't vampires, but a girl in love with a perfect being, albeit one that can kill her easily. if you realise that, then the movies aren't so bad.

Ok fine, Edward and his family are VERY far from the original idea of what a vampire is, and likewise, the werewolves actually just turn into feral wolves (werewolves are bipedal). Ultimately these are minor technicalities, and damnit, they do NOT ruin the movies. They're still perfectly enjoyable if you can just get over the whole that's-not-what-vampires-and-w­erewolves-are-like crap.
