use a screw driver to pry it off. thn scrape the inside of the cap with a sharp knife so that it will come on and off esialy (but still seal) that way you can put the marble back in the lid so no liquid will spill

That's a lot of work, I just use a sharp pocketknife, and I mean sharp so be careful, and cut the hole in the top bigger. Takes about 5 seconds.

I noticed there are many different types of tops, the one I have is similiar as yours in this video. But what I tried was quite easy to do; all I did was lid a fire in the bottle, let it melt for 30 seconds or so and then you quickly take the knife like you did here. Under the top lid and push it out, it just pops out 8D !

@Schrogirl No, the entire bottle didn't explode, my guess is that when the plastic was being heated it transfered energy (in the for of heat) to the marble which then built up significant pressure and eventually exploded, simple geo physics when you think about it. The result of this was a brief BOOOM! followed by plastic and marble parts scattered all over my room, something hit my laptop and now I am left with a region of it looking like some funky shit out of my LSD nightmares, thank you...!

Don't worry about not wanting to heat it; it's an understandable concern. : ) I would suggest reading some of the other comments. Some people have proposed other methods that you may want to try/are more comfortable with.

I did this like how you did without the whole fire thing. Just use a pair of sharp scissors to cut a groove into one part of the cap. Once its worked down enough you can use a screw driver or a needle nose plier to gradually lever the cap off. The marble is really pretty. So clear and no defects in the glass at all. You can tell it was factory made :P

Actually I found a much faster way if the cap doesn't screw off. Us a serrated Ginsu Knife... and just cut one side of the plastic cover. Grab it with needle nose plyers and whola... it comes right off. I just did one in about 15 seconds... very easy! :)

1. Boil pot of water.

2. Turn off stove.

3. Put bottle cap first into hot water for a few minutes.

4. Take out bottle from water and hold upright.

5. Insert flat head screwdriver into cap.

6. Pry off cap.

There should be enough water to completely submerge the cap in the water. The hot water will expand the plastic cap and dissolve any sugar that may be gluing the cap to the bottle. Make sure that the water gets into the bottle by tilting it.

Make sure you're prying off only the plastic cap and not the glass lip of the bottle.
