Mj is the most accomplished player behind Jabbar and MJ's dunks are graceful - he twists and his legs split or kick (or both) making many of his dunks look incredible.
For example, free throw dunkers are just happy to jump that far - but MJ actually drops his elbow keeping th ball between his eyes and the rim and splits his legs sideways with a thrust before the flush. VC could never be so graceful.
he is a legend. I grew up in the 1990s always watching MJ rule the basketball world. he is the reason I became interested in basketball and im a girl..lol
michael jordan unarguably the best player ever!! kobe doesnt get those first 3 rings without shaq and everyone knows it!! the players around jordan werent as talented when he won his first 3 rings and beat way better competition!! END OF STORY!! KOBE COULDNT CARRY JORDAN'S JOCK IN A SUITCASE!!!
@jurey76 i agree only player who can be discussed as the best player ever besides jordan is oscar robertson.... i think he was the best all around player anyway.... you cant average a triple double for a season if youre not well rounded lol but jordan is definitely 2
Are you stupid? This shot isnt about the left hand, this shot shows just how fast Jordan's reaction time was. He was going for a dunk, then he THOUGHT ( or at least saw) one of the Lakers player wanted to try to block his dunk. So in split seconds, Jordan decided to switch it off to his left hand and lay it up. VC and Kobe? My ass...
i hate how people compare mj to vince carter, take the best things they both did and you'll realize that mj is better in EVERY aspect and yes ESPECIALLY dunking.
the best layup EVERRRRRR....the funny thing is he didnt even need to switch hands as it was already an easy layup with the right, but thank god he did :)))

exactly i dont understand why this is such a great play -- if some1 came 2 contest from his right side and contested it then maybe i would put it as 1 of hes greatest play
It was a split second decision on his part. He was going up for the dunk, he thought Sam Perkins (who had unusually long arms) was going to contest it, so he switched to his left hand. If it had been a uncontested fastbreak with no defenders in sight, I agree it would have been silly. But it wasn't.
dude its NOT a circus shot, a circus shot is when u do an off balance shot with a 1% chance of goibng in like when dwyne wade hits layup with his back to the hoop, this is just good ball handing with superior skill, ask anybody...and ill retract the dickface , but ure still being ignorant
@paydog23 so the ordinary is u shoot basketballs all the time wtf thats like a normal layup which he changed for absolutely no reason so thats not even a great shot cuz no one was gaurdin him
@madgudlukin1 yes Jordan had a reason. Jordan saw Perkins in the corner of his eye and thought he was gonna try and block him so he switch hands to avoid the block.
he planned it? really? i remember seeing an article (that was written right after this shot) which interviewed jordan saying he originally wanted to dunk, but switched hands because he thought sam perkins was going to block it..."circus" shot or not, it was a good shot.
I didnt mean planned as in he planned thw hole thing, i meant he conciously switched hands and used the lay-up on purpose and not by mistake like a circus shot would mean. if you want circus shots, go look at dwayne wade.
@cbnunya It's unusual but not a circus shot, Shooting from behind the backboard, like kobe or kyle korver did last season, that's a fucking circus shot.
17 years ago today. Being a Laker fan, this is the move that signified the end of the Lakers run to me. Once I saw that you knew there was going to be no stopping the Bulls. This play and then Jordan dishing over and over again to John Paxson for wide open three after wide open three. Oh well. Time for Kobe to close the gap and bring the title back to where it belongs.
Why do they always call shots like these "circus shots?" I have never once seen a basketball in a circus.

Amazing shot of course but if Kyle Korver (or some other MVP material :)) would do it it wouldn't make the NBA Weekly top 100...

It is only amazing play because of the left handed shot, look at some Vince Carter or Kobe Bryant moves and see whats really amazing.

Are you serious? Do you even play basketball...
This shot is so damn difficult.. you need core strength to get that hangtime... And to have the accuracy to hit it off the glass with your left hand?
I play ball almost every day this shit is damn near impossible.
