  • Great canoe, i have the exact same thing except mine isn't a square back. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to get a smaller cheaper boat that is easy to handle alone. Very light weight and stable also i think it weighs like 70 pounds so, and they are nice and wide in the middle making them very stable as far as canoes go.

  • Pretty cool canoe - high tech compared to mine! You have lots of great ideas here. I like the anchor port idea which I may try on mine. I have an old Rogue River 14 that could stand to have a few extras on it too. I am jealous now. Great video!

  • @7tnorris Thanks for the comment bud. I tried to make it so I could fish as much of the season as possible, and I tried to build it so I could go fish for everything from blue gills to muskie. Best of luck with your boat.

  • I've just bought the same canoe, question is what oars do you use with it? I've bought normal canoe oars and when I got it home I noticed the oar locks and am wondering if you tried both? Which works better for you.

  • @scjustin2002 I use regular row boat oars by Carlisle I bought them @ Dick's Sporting Goods. Never really tried canoe paddles with this boat. When I'm floating solo and I want to position my self a little closer to shore without disturbing anything when using the motor I like to use a Paddle board paddle. I do this so I could stand and fish and still maneuver. Thanks for the comment. Good luck with your boat.

  • @surjracer56 right on, one more question what length oars (oar lock oars) do you use with the boat, i was thinking 6', what works for you? not trying to ask you a crap load of questions but your the only one i see that has this boat. thank you

  • @scjustin2002 I use six foot oars. I find that they help turn the boat realy well when wanting to pivot in place. The length allows a long stroke so you move the boat a little faster with little effort. I have'nt seen our boat as much as I would like on youtube either so ask away. I hope you will make a vid of your boat so I can check out the mods you've made. Just link it to this one if you do and i'll check it out. Good luck with the boat.

  • Great ideas, but looks kinda corny. Too much garb and not enough bare canoe.

  • Great job, i'm thinking about getting a canoe and your set up is pretty much what I want. Great ideas and creativity..Good Luck...Joe

  • @RevJoeyG Thanks for the compliment and good luck with your future vessel.

  • i like your canoe and i was looking for a mount for a fish finder could u do a vid on it sometime

  • @bassdominator1 Give me some time. I'll be doing a build video on the fishfinder mount i made. Thanks for the comment and request. when I do get the vid done I'll be sure to PM you.

  • Love it. I have the same canoe. It's also called the Rogue River 154, it's 15 ft 4 inches long, 42 inch beam. Nice nice mods, I'm going to add the tap lights and grip tape. TIP: remove center seat and use jigsaw to cut out the 'cooler' and center seat turns into GREAT storage area. I have my batteries in there with plug to small 17 lb trolling mtr with 15A draw, used for boat positioning. I also have a 2.5 hp suzuki which is awesome, pushes boat to hull speed. gonna buy those rod holders.

  • Using the center seat with 'cooler' cut out allows you all kinds of customization options... one option would be to use the whole thing vs. the 12x10x9 'cooler' box for a livewell... you just have to seal the drain hole cut out of the bottom of the center seat. I cut a hole out of the center seat and have my transducer mounted in there shoot through style, it's great. I basically have no wires anywhere cluttering anything by utilizing inside the center seat. thx again for the review.

  • Awesome canoe! Well done mods. You did a great job with this. You have to trailer this bad boy in though. Nice rig pal. ~Wolf

  • @FatDaddy4Fun Yah after a bunch of trips hauling this on the roof of my jeep loading and unloading the gear it was pretty apparent that I would need a trailer. Just for the simplicity of dropping the boat in and hooking it back up solo. I got a great deal on a harbor freight boat trailer. It really made spending time on the water easier. Thanks for the comment.

  • that looks like a good canoe

  • What is the thing called. I know it's a boat but what one?

  • @TheRebelEye It's an Oldtown Outdoorsman 15 square back.

  • @surjracer56 Thanks for commenting back, would this be good for a Canoe-Maran?

  • @TheRebelEye I'm sure it would make a great canoe-maran. But if you're looking for stability I don't think it would be needed. I'm able to stand and fish and control the boat at full power from the rear with another person in it with me. ope that helps.

  • @surjracer56 Looking for something like this, a boat that I can put together for two boats or one boat if I want.

  • Nice rig! I was looking at that exact boat when I bought mine. I went with a Scanoe... 299 couldnt beat the price! Ive been wanting to set mine ud the same as yours almost! Great video, its cool to see other peoples creations. I have a 2hp evinrude on my boat and it goes fine. a 4hp on yours would be perfect cause its a bit heavier than mine.Ive even been in the salt flats clamming with my 2hp it was more than enough to fight the incoming tide.

  • I'm impressed with thrifty creativity and talent! I don't fish, but you have some good ideas for non-fishermen. How did you mount the chairs? Are they permanently affixed to the canoe seats?

  • @baystategal The stadium seats where mounted with Ikea brand cargo straps. I wrapped the straps around the canoe seat and the stadium seat and pulled tightly. It allows me to use the seats for other stuff as well. Thanks for the comment and the question.

  • good job! I have just recieved my new OT GUide 160 and I am going to fit it out for fishing. How do you transport your boat? Roof rack or any kinf of car troley? Can you lift it up on the top of your car by yourself? Thanks. MISO

  • @BREAMIX Ive been transporting it on top of my Jeep GC. Its cumbersome but I get on top of the Jeep with all the equip. inside the truck. I did order a trailer for it just to make it easier for solo fishing and to have everything in the boat when i get to the launch. I figured it would be less time consuming for when I just want to get out for a short while. When the trailer is ready I'll post a vid.

  • your setup is beautiful, you must be slamming some nice fish in that bad boy!

  • Great job!!! Sweet!

  • @PianomanNY Thanks man I have enjoyed the boat so far.

  • What did you decide to do for a live well? You mentioned you were probably going to use the preinstalled well as a cooler.

  • @Nate3038 A buddy of mine gave me a bubbler he didn't need any longer so I'll be putting that in a 50 qt. marine cooler I got for $25 at walmart. That will fit more fish than the seat well would and it has the drain at the bottom. I'll do a quick vid soon.

    Thanks for asking.

  • Man, I LOVE your set up
