I do some ebay sales for my work and Canada Post has been relatively good for packages. I work in a music store, I've sent things all around the world and they've been pretty reliable.
UPS... well... I once shipped a tuba, a big tuba. A Big tuba that was in a case. That case was in a box. They lost it. In fact when they picked it up, they didn't scan it so they said they never had it 'til I faxed them the delivery guy's signature on the package.
The structure of CPC is established by management therefore any shortcomings are ultimately a reflection of their own inability to understand what their function is.
I changed from group 2 to group one 2.5 years ago and am still waiting to be trained in my position. I've found parcels from fedex and UPS mixed in with our mail and my supervisors tell me to just send it through!! So now we are also responsible for getting the competition's product to the customer on time. What a clown school.
This is a spoof from "This Hour Has 22 Minutes." It's just playing into the popular Canadian pasttime of bashing Canada Post that has become so ingrained it's practically genetic. How refreshing......*sarcasm*
As an employee of Canada Post, I share your frustration. Some of the prices are robbery. But you aren't being overcharged for all products and services.
The fact of the matter is the prices of things are so high for some people because they are unfamiliar of how Canada Post prices its products and services.
For example, often times, putting a small item that doesn't fit in the letter slot or weight over 500g is cheaper to send Xpresspost instead of as a regular parcel, as many do.
there are no outrageous wages and most of the time striking is about huge concessions the employer wants to make. Either way it will be privatized soon so if you think you have mail delivery issues now..just wait!
CUPW supports UPCE Stike Action. Solidarity Brothers and Sisters. Moya Green we are coming for you next. Edmonton CUPW stands with you during this strike. This will affect us all. Stand up and Fight!
Actually we read just fine. The customer can't seem to address an envelope. The number of ill-addressed letters we get is staggering. You've had twenty odd years to figure out what a postal code is, yet you STILL manage to F*** it up. When CP sends you a flyer with information on how to address an envelope, how much postage to put on, how to send various items, do you read it? Hell no, you garbage it!
I'm sorry but that is not true. CPC is a completely independent, profit making business. Their margins are extremely narrow but they are profitable in their own right. Tax payer money hasn't supported Canada Post for many years since they have become profitable.
Maybe so, but their rates are expensive as hell compared to USPS and some other parcel services. They got the worst tracking system ever. My tracking system hasn't been updated for 2 weeks and it just says "item accepted at the postal service." They've previously lost 2 of my parcels in the past and it took 2 months each to sort through. This kind of thing never happens with UPS or FedEx. 95% success rate, my ass. They might have 95% success rate for letters but not for parcels, that's for sure.
Wrong, CPC has the lowest mail rates in the world in comparison to the Canadian average wage, The USPS is I believe the second lowest. And as far as reliability CPC has one of the best as well as excellent on time delivery. Unless the item is coming from the US, their service is terrible.
You missed the fact that CPC rates are the lowest in the world in comparison to the wages of the originating country, one of the best on time service and CPC is world the leader in technology that in fact they sell it to other countries who model their service after CPC.
it took you 45 minutes to drive to New West?? I can't understand why canada post didn't send out a truck especially for your one letter..... i'm sure they could have had it there in the said 45 minutes..... geesh.....what a crazy selfish HUGE World Wide company!!!!!
a lot of canada post employees are multi talented and hold second jobs, even careers. You will find electricians, plumbers accountants, police officers and doctors.I am a free lance draftsperson and have worked on many large projects in ontario and here in Toronto since 1988. PROUD POSTEE :) :)
Remember guys.. Canada post is a Huge Company. Its has employees from all walks of life. Some will provide horrible service while others will do a fantastic job. Some are trained well, others like temps are barely trained.
Fucking stupid Canada post. I've been waiting for a 3 pieces of mail since Feb.26
I just got a call from one of the senders on Thursday saying the piece of mail came back marked as moved. I have not fucking moved.
I think they need a better training course for these fucking postal workers...or something because mail service has gone to shit the same way garbage service has. (IF you can even call it service anymore)
By finding any means of firing and get rid of old postal workers and hire new temps to fill in position and it becomes a vicious circle! Now the ultimate question is, do you think I give a crap about your parcel and it's contents when we get such poor treatment by Canada Post management? It's crazy but why is there 2 seperate unions in 1 corporation anyways?
It wouldn't be feasible to combine management's union with the workers'. The systems are too different, our working conditions too dissimilar. Plus a union that tries to be all things to all people is less effective, imo.
Canada Post Sucks! Why because I work for them! The workers have their own union and the management have their own union and the purpose of management is to make themselves look good and climb up the corporate ladder! How do they do that?
You're right on the money. They put the onus for training newbies on the backs of the oldtimers, and then tell us that training has no merit financially, which is a crock. The workers have been carrying management for years. My so called "trainer" had to be trained by a co-worker before she could train me! She hadn't been on the floor in years. Tells you something doesn't it?

We are so not appreciated for the hard work we do. It is a very physically demanding job. In all kids of weather conditions and on a tight schedule.
Everyday we deliver thousands of parcels and out of the thousands, a couple might be misdelivered and you don't hear the end of it.
It is also true that we are treated poorly by the corporation and management.
gofawkyrslf 4 years ago 3
People just like to complain and Canada Post employees tend to be an easy target while the real trouble is clearly in management.
