@lilimcdonald actually it is believed, by some scholars that they did have an encounter, not too the extent of which this movie portrays but it is believed with fairly accurate certainty they the two did meet and Pocahontas did save John Smiths life. Professor J.A. Leo Lemay wrote an interesting book on the truth of the story although some scholars still dispute the stories validity, after hearing both sides i would tend too side with Lemay on the matter.

@lilimcdonald She went to live with them and died of small pox/chicken pox at around 21 years old. Also John Smith was an old man when they met.
