now im mostly an import guy but ive always loved rat rods. now i really want to build one. i mean i still love imports but ive been watching rat rod videos for the past hour and i havent been so excited about something in a while. this video is a major inspiration. now that my dad is on disability and cant work anymore i might be able to talk him into building one with me (as long as i foot the bill). any tips on finding an appropriate car for a rat rod transformation?

@blazelmtdedtn yeah, its gota run ,its gotta be old ,pre 68,not much wrong with it, then the rest is all up to you... there's no limit. visit your local auto zone and pick up rebel rods. then subscribe. thats where you will get your best ideas. just keeep ckn craigslist for pre 68 cars ,trucks, you can even pick your on price... just take your time.. you want a clear title and pretty much the rest is net working.... thanks the rooster!!!!!!!!

Hey Rooster you inspired me to build a rat rod I got an old 78 GMC motor home with a strong running 400 in it but have yet to find a shell. I figure that 400 ought to be good for a couple good pulls. When you started your project was it a rolling shell or did you have to replace most of the drive train?

@Horsepowerfreakcrazy to be honest my ratrod is original chasis , and truck. the only thing not original is the 360bigblock and the 3 speed tranny. any thing else to make it work i made. you should really try and get a hold of rodz mag. or kar kulture mag. and do some research on youtube and may you can find some ideas on ebay. hey bro you can do it. alot of people dont beleive my junk even works till they see me crusin down the road. so good luck and let me know how it goes. @senoirjack One of the luxuries of building a "Rat Rod" is that you don't have to do body work unless you want to change the structure of the vehicle. Such as chop top or shorten bed and channeling it. Other than that it's build it however you want with what ever you want and make it a unique rod! Good luck!

@sundeb hey listen you need to make sure you have a disconnect from your battery first. then you need some single wire fuse connecters to heat stuff up. if you look close in the center of the cab u can see my power grid. red switch to coil, black start button, blue head lights,green brake lights, and yellow my radiator fan. no turn signals. just a brake light switch on brake pedal. mines not pretty but its simple and it works. thanks Rooster!!!!
