  • i went to japan for a trip and tasted tacoyaki, it was slimy and tasted a little weird lol

  • that's how they taste lol, the outside is a little firm but the inside is super gooey with octopus... it's best with green onions, mayonnaise and ソース. in my opinion at least

  • I noticed that they don't use plastic gloves like all food handlers in US restaurants are required to use. Funny since the Japanese are picky about stuff like triple wrapped kit kat bars to ensure its kept fresh and clean.

    Regardless, it looks tasty.

  • That's actually a good point. The Japanese are notorious for overly-sanitizing everything. Eating a hamburger with bare hands? Forget it. But for some reason the Japanese don't seem to mind the food handlers go as far as tasting with their fingers what they are cooking sometimes. I've seem them do that quite often, especially at some authentic ramen places around Tokyo. But no one seem to care. It will be the end of the world when you see sushi chefs in Japan wear gloves.

  • Its probably because since they have been making products like ramen and takoyaki for quite a while now (before the glove cooking was the majority) that it will ruin the originality, and culture you know what i mean? like it just ruins the food if they use gloves because there so skilled.

  • たこやき basic ingreds: flour, 1 egg, yamaimo 山芋 (fresh or dry packaged), dashi (we usually use konbu dashi); mix! pour! add: chopped ginger, chopped green onion, tenkatsu, tiny dried shrimp, & dun dun dun OCTOPUS pieces! Turn turn & turn some more. After done, top w/ "okonomiyaki" sauce (& mayo if you want) & ao-nori & katsuo (aka fishflakes) Take care its HOT! Also, for a change, you can dip your takoyaki into dashi "soup"
