Natural play. He is keeping it working. My old girl kills fast then brings it to me asking me to fix it so ti can try to escape summore. Just give her lots of "good girl"!
and place it near her sleeping box for a day and night then I can bury it.,
if I let her keep it herself it might wind up in my bed.! ;)
@sophia88two Yeah I agree, very natural for the cats to do this. Sounds like you cat is very active. Lol, I can imagine any present left in your bed from the cat wouldn't be welcome. Thanks for watching, take care
My cat brings back opossums and large rats from the field near our home. I always ask him why cant he bring me something i can use and eat lol like my nebors chickens or some fish out the pond. =) Always heard they do that as a thanks to you for taking care of them. So good job Colin! he's grateful to you for something.
The circle of life. It's sad, but hey, it's dog eat dog.. or cat eat bird! One of my current cats is a born hunter and as such is the healthiest I've ever had, she has such healthy teeth, gums, coat, build, everything, because she does what she's naturally meant to do. Still, poor little birdy!
@ColinOutdoors I was surprised when you encouraged it to find it again : P Usually i tell my cats to go away : P lol, you should take him hunting with you, he'll cook up some dinner : )
Cats keep pests away! Too bad during the black plague most people were lied to by the rich elite ! They told people that Cats carried the plague WHEN in FACT it was the Rats and the mice! Millions would have been spared a horrible death if they killed the Rats instead of the Cats!
isn't your cat pretty old? He is quite spry! I'm not the biggest cat fan but you really have to have admiration for the hunting skills. Thanks for sharing.
One of my mom's cat was attacked by dogs, I went for the rescue and had one of my hands nearly chewed of. I managed to retrieve the poor kitten but not before it had some nasty wounds in the hip, a minor fracture in the hip bone and a leg dislodged. Our vet who is an angel, managed to fix the furball. Now I always have a pair of hard knuckles nomex gloves at easy reach. Cool cat BTW mate. Cheers
Cool kitty~ I have several indoors and several outdoors myself~ the outdoor cats are always catching grasshoppers or field mice, and the indoor cats are content to sleep on top of my quilt....... :)))
We have a British shorthaired that had kittens 7 weeks ago only one survived so we decided to keep it now they both get into trouble we have to lock the door cos she knows that if she hangs on the handle the door will open and off They go. Trying to keep them in until they can be done at the vets
I had a huge apple head saimese male that weighed in at his prime at 22 pounds (not sure how many kilos that is). He was a straight up death dealer. He would display all his kills on the back porch daily. Birds, mice, and even small rabbits. He would eat most of the body all except the rear section. I would come out to see all the "asses" he collected during his killing sprees. He was de-clawed at one point, but it didnt stop him. He became know as "The Biter" after that. He lived 20 years
Cats will be cats:o) One of the cats has brought three mice inside, so her kittens can have something to play with. One night the mouse got away from them or so I thought. untill I discovered A very flat mouse under the welcome mat at the door. So the floor and mat had to be sanitised... Dead crushed mice does not smell like roses:o) I guess bird season is open in the UK now:D
ROFL....he's having fun :-)) The mother outside cats bring things up a lot for their kittens to play with and then eat. It's all part of natures cycle. Thanks for sharing Colin. Take Care :-))
Yep, as shown in my 'first solo camp', have had to come to an agreement with the wife as she missed him too much, so I can only take him when I go solo (which I don't do often).
My last cat brought home a headless pigeon and hid it under the girls bed, a large fish from the pond in the woods and a mouse that he left on the stairs for my wife to stand on (with bare feet).
@MrHatManS Lol, sounds like a successful hunter. I try and make sure they don't bring anything in my house. I wouldn't want to stand on a mouse with bare feet lol.
Cats being cats. They shoot off shotguns and everything. He just thought you weren't getting a square meal since you never hunt with him. If you notice his manner, he's trying to draw attention to it. He's trying to get you interested. Cats show family members things by getting their attention and then agitating or exposing it with their visible interest. This makes the other cats go for it. He's just inviting you to the feast.
@ColinOutdoors I too have never known life without a cat. My mom had one when I was a baby and I just sort of connected with the cuddly yet deadly creatures. Matter of fact, some of my hunting and stalking behavior and even my timing on shooting is based on watching my cats in their element. Watching natural predators makes you even more deadly if you are taking what they are giving. I always watch the hawks and buzzards if I'm looking for small game. They got better eyes than I do.
Ha you gota love them, better than the dead mice/rats my ex's cat used to bring inside, they look so pleased with themselves like" hey come check out what iv done =]" Cats killing birds and such is their nautral thing, if pple dont like stiff bickies. Good job on the cats repairs bro, you wouldnt knw he had a damaged his knee to that level, bet he was glad to get out of the cage after 6 weeks! cheers Col, best wishes and be safe my friend
@TheDishD Hey Dishy, yeah its in there nature to do it. Yeah he certainly did not like being in that cage, to be fair it was pretty big but obviously he would rather be running about outside. Cheers my friend, hope your having a great day, take care.

I have a dog now, he is nearly as good at hunting, but works using a different method.
Instead of stealth he charges and as soon as he is noticed starts barking as well, this freezes the animal in fear, then he barrels them over.

@MrHatManS Haha, yeah sounds like the dog method. Not as elegant as a cat but effective all the same, plus great hiking companions.
