And another thing --- Fargo has a disproportionate number of its citizens living in apartments because housing prices are surprisingly high. Beware the hype.

Don't let anyone fool you. Fargo, ND is a difficult place to live and work. Last winter there were two blizzards and the city nearly flooded. Temperatures below minus 20 are common, and there are 7 to 8 months of cool, cold, and arctic temperatures. It's not for the faint of heart. The major pastime in North Dakota is drinking large amounts of alcohol, but I must say this....those roly-poly Northlanders are pros at holding their anti-freeze...er, I mean liquor.

I have lived up here for the past 10 years now, and love it. Although I was not born and raised here, I consider Fargo ND to be 'home'. The community is just great, friendly people, people helping each other, a beautiful and clean city, and a very low major crime rate. I does worry me that when news media does stories like this on how wonderful it is here, that it will bring all the unwelcome problems with some newcomers.

they kept the housing prices stable by being realistic and not trying to double their money buying homes to sell at huge mark-up, and made sure you could afford their loans before handing you a 200,000 house when you make minimum wage.
