  • Should US support ICC? What kind of question is that. USA do not recognize ICC. USA is free do whatever it wants. lol

  • Lol should they support it? Theyre in bed with the ICC! Rediculous pathetic silly men work for the ICC. Do they even believe the dribble that comes out of there mouths. Lol real aggression instead of political agression. Its the same thing except instead of a 'dicatator' its a government commiting crimes. Definition of ICC should be one word, hypocrisy. Or even better International Chamber of Commerce, in international business. They have six cases, all in Africa.

  • "Hey, one thing I loved is how Canada said "NOT" to Bush during Iraq, because we, like many others, knew that he was lying."

What kind of sophomoric gibberish is this? Learn how to formulate a coherent sentence, otherwise you look even more stupid than the people you have disagreements with. If you're claiming Bush lied, ****PROVE IT*** rather than making purely indiscriminiate statements that have no basis in fact.

So tell me, why did Bill Clinton bomb Iraq in '98?

  • There was also talk about prosecuting those responsible for the massive klllings of citizens in Gaza several years ago..but, once again...no real action. Where is the balanced justice??? It's a total piece of crap if justuce is not balanced, regardless of state, ethinicity, income etc. This is an instituation that needs serious reform...

  • I have to agree that the administration of justice in this court is totally skewed. If it was to be fair, George W Bush should have been endighted long long ago..and tried for war crimes over his indicriminate killing of thousands and thousands of civilians in Iraq. The evidence is absolutely clear...but no justice is done...only shoes thrown at his head....which is light punishment for such atrocious crimes...Lol...(but not really laughable).

  • The problem is that it is a politically driven court, prone to show trials. It's only productive use is for deposed dictators to get show trials that are fairer than the ones they'd get in their home country. Even then it is of marginal utility.

  • Yes, all countries should support and join this.

We have a framework of international law but this is not currenly enforcable.

    This need to change.

  • since when was niel armstrong named William?? :S

  • The US not acknowledging the ICC is exemplary of their knowledge of their own war crimes. Must be embarrassing that the country that is so in love with itself for its 'freedoms' (since when is that word plural?) and is constantly nagging about it to other countries, is afraid of this court.

  • @tzivyabelinfante Given that the ICC is probably filled with people like you, that hate America and would love to try us for whatever frivolous reason you can summon, I'd say it was a wise move on our part not to sign the Rome Statute. We do our best to get along with the rest of the world, stop hating already. Besides, a foolish move on behalf of our top officials does not impinge the entire citizenry. America is filled with good people as well as bad.

  • No, well unless Obama starts rounding up all the southern white people and whacking their arms off. Then Yes, but only after I lost an arm or a foot.

  • William Zabel is a far-left liberal whose law fir contributes to far-left Democrats such as John Edwards, a conniving trial lawyer who made millions abusing outrageous malpractice judgements. William Zable is most definitely ***NOT*** and impartial supporter of the ICC. Another leftist Democrat with an ax to grind.

  • The American courts work just fine thank you. Things may move slow, but we don't need another UN-style body telling us what to do legally. "aggression against the environment" - sorry, I find this extremist. Just another International body to muck up our legal system. Leftists are all giddy about the ICC because they think it's an alternative way to go after Cheney. Trust me, if Obama has to take military action the ICC finds unjust, the very same libs will have second thoughts about the ICC

  • 'If Obama has to take military action'

Bush never HAD TO take military action, he just started a war because he felt like it (aka 'wrong intelligence').

  • Yeah I know, I hear that all the time. 'Bush just felt like starting a war'. Do you have any evidence to back up this claim? We have circumstantial evidence that in '98 Bill Clinton bombed Iraq since his deposition to a Grand Jury on the Paula Jones case was fast approaching and he needed to bumb up his popularity in the polls based on the nasty facts and damning evidence of that incident possibly becoming known to the public. What evidence is there that Bush just felt like starting a war?

  • The question should be: what evidence is there that Bush started a war that was really necessary? If there is no such evidence, than he must have just felt like it. Or the oil companies paid him for it. Or Cheney forced him into it. Whatever other reason there might have been, it was not a legitimate one, because there we lack the evidence.

  • The evidence is the UN reports that were continually written identifying the types of WMD Saddam was attempting to produce and secret deals he had with rogue countries that were sending him the raw materials. Even your beloved Democrats believed it when Bubba's numbers were tanking in light of the Paula Jones allegations. What hard evidence do you have that Oil companies literally paid the Bush administration for a war on Iraq. There's plenty of oil in the world we don't need to fight for.

  • @wildnites558 You're on the wrong end. If Bush was to be tried on war crimes...it would be up to him to prove the legitimacy of what he did. The evidence that he committed war crimes is enormous. He would have to defend himself ....to prove the legitimacy of what he did. This is how trials work. He was not legitimized in any way by the UN. He attacked unilaterally...with no proper UN support. If the ICC was to operate properly, Bush's ass would be in the can..and the world would be happy.

  • @paulfornasier Well obviously you're wrong because if the "evidence was enormous" as you alledge, he would have been convicted already. People would be screaming about specific evidence --- rather than just indiscrminate finger-pointing that has been going on on the left since we marched into A-stan. You may not like Bush (or Cheney), you may not agree with his actions to go to war, but these realities simply don't add up. Please provide some of the "enormous evidence" of Bush's "war crimes".

  • @wildnites558 Go talk to the UN about evidence..but it is clearly obvious that he indiscriminately bombed Iraq and killed enormous numbers of citizens in the process. Bush had no problem in using cluster bombs and DU in Iraq..none at all. He lied clearly about any justification to go into Iraq in the first place. So..tell me...who is to be held responsible for a war that was justified on a lie?? And no..the ICC does NOT try anyone who commits an interantional crime. How about Gaza?

  • @paulfornasier Oh..and how about he obvious ones..Abu Ghraib prison. Canada also had to compensate one of our citizens who was sent to Syria for torture by the US....one of many incidents (several involving Canadian citizens) of this sort during the Bush admin...and no censure of Bush at all. I'm not into providing evidence..let a court collect it all. Truth is ..there will never be a referral...because the US will block it at the UN. Running a court on referrals is not true justice.

  • @wildnites558 Could someone attack the US because of Bush's unjustified killings internationally, and get away with it?? No..of course not...the UN and the ICC are manipulated by the western world. Yes, the ICC serves a good purpose on individual cases..but it does not opoerate fairly across the world. Why do many other regimes across the world that kill their citizens indiscriminately not get attention? Cases are referred by the UN...and they can be blocked. What happened with Israel in Gaza??

  • @wildnites558 Hey, one thing I loved is how Canada said "NOT" to Bush during Iraq, because we, like many others, knew that he was lying. Our PM Chretien even called him an "idiot". It may not have been diplomatic..but it was quite appropriate....not as good as the shoe thrower,..but close...

  • @paulfornasier Actually to correct, Bush was called a "moron" by a Canadian communications rep..and then additionally called an "idiot" in response to clamours about the "moron" statement.. And the PM stood by the communicaitons rep..LOL... It was a very funny moment as a Canadian...

  • And one other thing on your earlier comment: where did you hear about the ICC prosecuting "aggression against the environment"? To my knowledge, that is not within the ICC's jurisdiction at all and it is not planning to incorporate it into its jurisdiction.

  • how is it possible that the americans don't see that they'll eventually be the ones telling ICC what to do? they can easily cover their own asses as they always have, and they get a free bonus excuse for invasion, which means less civil dissent (international consequences = nil as usual).

  • If the international court will prosecute the bush family syndicate for genocide, theft, fraud, crimes against humanity, and psychotic manipution then please issue the warrant ...the world gives them permission and get the red out of china too. I would recognize an international court before a global court, come clean out the congress, they wont listen to us anyway

  • Hard to speak out authoritatively against issues like Darfur when they won't even sign up to international conventions like the ICC. As with other issues, like climate change, American influence in the world is weakened further.

  • how can he point an accusing finger at other countries yet in the the same breathe say that his own country is afraid of supporting the international courts for fear of being indited.....???!!!....that right there is double think!!!!

  • was this chap Bob Kerry a Viet Nam war criminal or am i confusing him with someone else?

    ~just a question that's all :)

  • He does not worry about the American People but the military that may fall into war crimes because what our Leaders had them do. Our country is sick and all the stupid dumb assholes in office need to be sent to prison. ALL OF THEM!! Why is it ok for them to try the American People for Internet Crime in a different Country because there so called laws? They dismiss our laws but want to take Americans to there country and put us in prison for so called internet crime of Hurt Feelings? Outrage!!

  • @2xtream "Why is it ok for them to try the American People for Internet Crime in a different Country because there so called laws? They dismiss our laws but want to take Americans to there country and put us in prison for so called internet crime of Hurt Feelings? Outrage!!" Because the internet has no borders, America does it to, it's called Extradition, you commit a crime and a foreign country wants to prosecute you for it they can, and America can extradite and prosecute foreigners.

  • @98raza20 I guess the war is against everyone that uses the internet. Countries all around the world can make a law and sit and wait for the law breakers... Let me rephrase my statement to be more correct in my statement.... All governments are corrupt and the citizens are there to be taken advantage of... Welcome to the New World Order... I guess my next investments will be in the prison industrial complex...
