We don't know what actually happened, but we thought the ship was going down, all lights went out and massive waves. if anyone has any information about this incident I and my family would love to know what actually happened. please contact me if any information. mhop48@yahoo.com

  • My Father sailed on this ship to freedom in 1940--It was headed to Siam (Thailand) and impounded in Panama when Italy entered the war.

  • I sailed the Conte Biancamano from NYC to Italy, Naples

I think, the summer of 1956. I was with a youth hostel

group that biked through Italy, Switzerland, France, ending in London!

I'm so glad they have preserved part of this great ship, with it's wonderful history!

  • I sailed from New York to Genoa on that venerable ship in March 1960. One of her last crossings. Many fond memories of the ship. Ports of call included Azores, Lisbon, and Barcelona.

  • What a beautiful job they have done of preserving part of Conte Biancamano. I must visit Milan to see the museum!

  • I'm so glad at least part of one classic Italian liner was saved.I'm unsure about the fate of the ex-Augustus.IMHO the Italins were the most beautiful ships of all.
