  • Sir Robert McAlpine was an English baron and member of the ruling-class made famous by his use of concrete construction during the 2nd World War. The song was originally written by Irish Republican Socialist Dominic Behan to highlight the gross injustices and racism subjected to immigrant labor during the war period.

  • That's a good reason for writing a song, thanks for the info on it.

  • @PMishkin The company was Alfred Mc Alpine founded in 1935.

  • @01triggerthehorse : If you listen to the studioversion of the song you would hear Ronnie talking about Sir ROBERT McAlpine. That Company was founded in 1869.
