I remember McGrath initial stats 3 overs, 3 maidens. India had lost Sidhu and Jadeja as well. A little while later, McGrath's stats read 8 overs, 3 maidens, 48 runs.

You know the first thing that caught my eye , the obvious apart Tendulkar at his best,straight drive,pull shots etc was there was no advertisement in SRT's bat in this day and age of media and ads.oh btw one of the best innings to watch for the sheer purity of strokes..Great player either behind before or after Lara :)

Absiolutely fantastic innings! Thank you so much for sharing! However, he is way more compact nowadays...he looked quite restless through that innings, possibly pressurized by the fact that the game would be lost if he was dismissed...90 out of 140 and tremendous acceleration if you consider that he only scored 5 from his first 16 balls...comes to around 85 from the last 68! Thanks again for sharing!

This is an awesome post. Sachin was batting brilliantly and Waugh came, got Sachin under control, and took a really smart wicket. This innings pretty much summed up the match given how everything went pear-shaped for India soonafter

You are dead right Rob. Sachin not as fluent as he was in the 90's and the early 2000's. Also the game has taken a dent with all the fixing, pseudo supporters, bullshit commentary, no triangualr or quadrangular one day series...I can keep cribbing the entire day, but cricket was amazing those days just as Sachin was. If you have a similar ball by ball innings of Steve Waugh's 100 against SAF (1999 WC), Mark Waugh's 100 against the Kiwis (Chennai, 96 WC), it would be great. Thanks

This is my favourite upload of yours ever, Rob. While I've seen all of these boundaries before, the defensive shots and 1s and 2s are just as important to constructing an innings, and it's great to see the mastery in this area also. Next time you do on of these, could you also include the wickets falling at the other end? I think they'll give more context. And isn't it great to see Warne in his prime too! Love it!

Awesome upload Rob.. This is magical stuff because a 23 year old is playing with such perfection that the entire world calls him the MASTER.

This innings shows why Sachin was the heart, body and the soul of Indian cricket team and the nation in 1990s (he still is but was more passionately loved and cared for back then).

And now seeing the 23 year olds bat in Int'l cricket makes me feel sick.. All T20 products, no class let alone genius.
