Canola oil has a lower burn point, so it's actually not good for frying. It will burn more easily so has to be refreshed more often, plus you shouldn't use it more than once due to toxicity. The best cheap oil to use is vegetable because it will last longer, thereby being cheaper.
Even cheaper than buying pre-battered chicken bits would be to buy a 1-lb pack of chicken breast halves and cut them into little pieces, then bread them yourself in egg then flour, THEN deep-fry.
What is that black square with an R on it on your door supposed to be? It's pretty awesome.
Also I wish I had a deep fryer. I'd make this every night forever.
