I second that - bones have not been proven to produce blood cells except under dire circumstances. Primarily the digestive system produces bloods cells. A quick look at how the body is plumbed shows this.
Its the macrophages in the spleen and liver which destroy the red blood cells. The liver breaks the red blood cells down and uses the red blood cells to make bile which is secreted in digestion. the by products of bile is bilerubin which is removed from the body via urination or defecation.
