  • wow nice project guys!!!. But I think the body is too heavy for the motor to take. I think you should replace the body with aluminum so it will become lighter and the motor will not exert more power to run the thing...

  • I was on fire when i got here!!

  • These guys failed and the spider car guy didn't fail!

  • Dying animal

  • HAHA where is Dexter and his labortary at when you need him?? lol

  • ThAnX mAtE

  • Why did they take this off tv? i loved it!

  • @bigbenn56 YOUR AWESOME MATE!!!!!

  • @bigbenn56 It's on in New Zealand atm Hahahaha

  • noobs

  • That's why y'all need to calculate the various components before building them, it's called engineering... :D

  • im no robotic technicianbut wat they should really do is add wheels to it then it would really be a caring machine

  • its a prototype Metal Gear only with 6 legs

  • what is this for?

  • if they made the chassis out of carbon fiber then it might have worked

  • @Mrcraziboi1 dude... the idea is about making it walk while carrying heavy weight... not just making it walk....

  • ... why didn't any of them realize that building a chassis with that much weight would be too much load on the motors and systems that they were going to use to power it... I would have thought they could have taken that into account...

BTW... You guys chatting away about who' country is more of a contributor to humanity... well, it comes down to the individual, not the country behind them, so grow up... sigh...

  • Lets see what you've done in one week this big without any over-sights. Not to mention its a prototype. Many countries spend millions and expend countless man-hours on something that fails in the proto stages. It's a learning experience.

Also, I never mentioned anything to that effect in your last paragraph. In fact I implied the very thing you stated. Thanks for reinforcing my position though.

  • I just would have done it differently.

And hey, they had the funding, they had the people, i'm assuming they had the knowledge, after all, they did it in a week.

    What did they learn? really?

  • Less weight. Use composite materials. That lesson stands out like a sore thumb.

  • Indeed, they learned what they already should have foreseen in the design phase.

    :)

  • Says the guy that doesn't do anything like this whatsoever and never will. God, people suck. All they look at is other peoples mistakes. It's people like that which contribute NOTHING and take oxygen from the planet.

    :)

  • I'm a technical modeler. I build and design things to work in physical 3D space based on materials, tensile strength and weight distribution.

I am also a sculptor, artist you could say. I know a thing or two about structural support and materials composition. And work in the field of 3D printing.

I know enough to know that the approach they took in creating their vehicle was flawed. They made a mistake. I get it...

Not to mention I am currently designing and building a car... sigh...

  • So you do work in a similar way, and for assuming wrong I extend my apology. However, you look at projects like the Tokamak fusion reactors and all the effort/time/knowledge/people that goes into designing one and yet here we are 50bil$ later with nothing. This vid doesn't depict an unrealistic outcome. It's just not 'good' tv. If you can design and build your car from scratch in a week, then I'll be impressed.

  • @hutchings000 exactly, man. that was a dumb fail of a set of laymen.

  • tech level of usa...

  • Still far more advanced than anything your country ever put out. Even if it is a piece of shit.

  • u think that because u r low educated.

  • No. I know this because your country has NEVER contributed anything when it comes to robotics or anything else. Also it is uneducated not low educated you retard.

  • :) i saw u a low educated :)

  • Like I said you are a fucking retard. End of story.

  • who care what u said? u just an stupid noob.

  • @fassenkugel 'u r low educated' need I say more?

  • nope. i am well educated. u can read and write and its a high school for u. :) funny country :)

  • @fassenkugel If you're so smart, why do you generalize a vast nation of people? I have nothing against your country, but you are proving yourself to be a pathetic human being that rides on emotional response rather than logic. We don't spend nearly enough time on trying to find a cure for stupidity. I'd say you have a terminal case.

  • what a waste of time.. who ok'd these designs?

  • hey! it's not a waste of time, they're smart as hell xD they don't work, do something fun and propably get one helluva load of money xD

  • HHAHAHAHA ... looks funny !

  • the lady must have thinked '' omg im really that fat?''

  • ha ha ha LOSERs

  • i wonder how it would work if they complete the leg's arc into a circle, and put the axle in the centre

  • i wonder how they could do with like a year or even 6 months

  • ...Dear gawd that's the best we can come up with.... seriously what's with those shitty legs...is project shitty robot in effect?

3 weeks? how the hell do they expect to build a robot in only 3 weeks let the japanese make one!

  • 1:22 CRASH AND BURN

  • you know they only had 3 weeks to do this, stop bashing them.

  • GAY robotic gods wtf ar eug ys fucking nerds actually u are nerds and ya it is over stick to ur WoW

  • if you actually watched the show you would understand fyi they get paid big bucks to do stupid shit like this.

  • l2english not engrish

  • the legs are to long, even a all terain car got not a meter ground clerance or a meter high tires. just get some sorter legs and then you get more torke.

  • they would have lost the challenge.

  • robots and stuff like this ar cool. end of comment. XD

  • LOL! look at all the dumb people saying "Wheel".

....ummmm we've already invented automobiles, thats not the point, geniuses. Wow, how sad it must be to have your brain.

  • they should have made it with a simple roll hoop instead of that heavy cage

  • The BIG DOG robot is so much better

  • People... go check out Rhex, its a small scale version of this. If they can get this one going right, it would be extreamly cool. WHY? 'cause they can!

Well... not quite in this case, but the idea is a proven one, not "lame" or "gay".

Why knock someone that has put something on display, whether it worked or not??? Now i am looking to find if they have taken it further? OR... will they not bother because of the negative response already?

  • wheels are known since stoneage XD

  • I was rofling everytime it fell down.

  • lame

  • waste of metal

  • Its called wheel

  • gutted

  • fucking gayyyyyyyyyy

  • wtf was the point of a 6 leg car thats fucken dumb you know how long it would take to go to walmart goin 2 miles an hour!!!!?

  • listen to the stuff theyre saying

    ALL-TERRAIN-VEHICLE

its not meant to drive you to walmart

its for getting over f.e. debris

  • Well, those little engines cant hold it up. If it stands up, those engines has not been created to stand still.. You'll probably have to make some sort of mechanism that holds 3 legs what are still and not the engine.

  • they are stepper motors not engines, stepper motors r meant to hold position just not that much weight

  • They got this idea from Rhex the robot it is a lot smaller but walks much better.

  • Nothing to do with cheese at all.

  • I'm waiting for someone to make a mini-version of Supreme Commander's Monkeylord robot. That'd be pretty cool, but I guess you'd need a sharp AI to coordinate it.

  • eeeh Mondo Spider

  • shoulda used either a titanium frame or carbon fiber

and maybe instead of straight one sided legs they made the legs slightly similar to a helicopter blade

  • Maybe pair of extra legs would help it..

  • I like the slogan on the last guy's shirt:

"It was on fire when I got here."

  • still the idea is quick wicked

  • I think this would work great with 3 feet on each axial.

  • at least they're pushing for something new and different unlike some other people. this is what we call progression.

  • yes, they should try once again.

reanalyze problems and issues theyve had and try again.

  • Yep simple, its too heavy. Carbon fiber is needed that or plasic.

  • @TimePeriod sync it right, cary heavy weights ;)

  • How cud these idiots not know to make it light (like aluminium frame)? It's one of the things that is crucial for complete success.

  • Prototype this: A woman that does ALL the work for a man :)

  • cool

  • you idiots

make the chassis from carbon fiber, and get motors with more torque, is THAT easey

  • They just need to up the motorsize, gear it down is all...easy.

  • i dont like the leg designs

  • You guys have not failed at all. There is success in failure...

  • it's disapointing but that doesnt mean it's a total fail. just needs more work is all :)

  • just make proto 2 and lessen the chassis wieght

  • it's ill

  • Oh well, it was a good effort on their part! I hope this is broadcast in the UK.

  • I saw this on TV
