There is a huge difference between censorship and argumenting as to why something is morally wrong. I wouldn't legally censor Ann Coulter, but I would certainly advise any serious media to not have anything to do with her, in the same manner that I would advise serious media to stay away from nazis and religious extremists. Chris Mathews tried to blindside Ann Coulter. didn't really work out that well. All Mrs. Edwards could do was demand she stop being so mean and talk about real issues. So coulter brought up a few of the real ethical deficiencies of Mr. Edwards. It soon became clear that any fact Elizabeth Edwards would rather not talk about was "mean."

This is why I don't often let myself be drawn into arguments with liberals. It's more productive to just make fun of them.

Elizabeth was not saying Ann shouldn't exercise her 1st Amendment rights (it's Ann who always suggests those critical of Bush should not exercise those rights); she was simply asking Ann to elevate the discussion from the gutter where Ann resides & talk about issues that matter. But Ann's afraid of that because by discussing those issues, you can't avoid exposing how Republicans have screwed everything up in the last 6 years. So she's trying to distract and redirect the conversation.

Teachers send kids to their counselors in my High School back in the day for doing some pretty disruptive things I would over hear their "punishment" which would be the counselor saying don't do that again. There are no consequences for their actions and that's the problem. They don't learn to behave in a civilized manner.

My sister does not believe in corporal punishment. She has two children, ages 14 and 11, and never spanked them. Nor did their teachers. They are two of the most polite people I know, to the extent that they always address adults and ma'am and sir. They're also straight A honor roll students and involved in charitable works. My niece just got back from building homes for the poor in West Virginia.

The problem is our culture has become too liberalized. There was discipline back in the day where there is not now. People get away with pretty much anything at school. You could track the decline in academic achievement and disturbing behavior in our schools with the cessation of corporal punishment in our schools.

I'm not sure what you mean by the nation being too liberalized because, until six months ago, we've had six years where ever branch of the federal government -- Executive, Legislative (Senate and Congress), and Judicial have all been dominated by conservatives.
