  • jay z is one of the few rappers who i feel has an intelligent lyrical style. his style fuses really well with bono's voice. a lot of jay z's music is very strong lyrically. he's an "artist" not just a rapper. this is great. well done.

  • very inspirational, great channel too!

  • Genius upon genius.

  • Can't believe some of the idiots commenting on this video...especially the hardcore U2 fans. Educated people would know rap and punk have always gone hand in hand. Heck listen to The Magnificent Seven by The Clash...it's a FUCKING RAP SONG!

  • At the end of the day Jay Z collab with U2 or not, there were no rules to Music itself.

Everything always sounds broken if you are a crazy close minded fanatic....

On that note, I made a hip hop sample remix to U2 New Years Day. Check out my page if interested.

  • I see this as a dark horse for a studio single

  • Ya just wanna hear Bono scream,....."Rejoice!"

  • What the f..!!!, a beautiful song ruined by this Jay-Z, who is this guy???

  • Jay-Z was a great addition...did any of the people criticizing him actually listen to the lyrics of his verse? I hate closed-minded music fans...

  • I love this. This is the type of blending of collaboration and song rarity that I find incredibly satisfying. So unique. Can't help but to sing along out loud.

  • So many people ragging on this version, wow. When i think about it, it's Jay-Z rapping over a U2 obscurity from 1981. That's pretty damn cool. Two of the biggest artists in the world collaborating on something that's not a billboard money grab or charity piece. They're just doing a song together. What's the harm in that?

  • @thenamelessavenger Well bloody said my friend.

  • Great Colabaoration- Great Taste in music U2!

Too many people believe they must "fit" into ONE category with music, skin color -way of thinking. etc......it's a choice but a pretty limiting one.....chose MORE- be open minded and exepreince wonderful things....BOTH U2 AND Jay Z ROCKED!!!!

  • Fuck hova

  • jay-z is better then wayne

  • you know how you CAN win?!if not click my profile and discover

    <<---

  • Was there.... is one of my all time favs of U2, feel so lucky to have heard it!

  • 29 long years

  • As a lifelong U2 fan, I love seeing them play this song. Heck, I was on my feet singing along to "The Ocean" during the Vertigo tour. Would be just as happy if they would do shows that only had songs from Boy, October & War. Perhaps many prefer their songs without rapping, but if that's what it takes for them to play a classic, so be it.

  • Jay Z ruins so many songs I am so glad he is not on next years american leg of tour.

  • U2 Rocks Jay Z is great. U2 fan since1986 GREAT SONG PEACE AND LOVE

  • It´s great to see u2 playing old stuff, but Jay z doesn´t fit with u2,fuck the mtv rap & hip hop, bono get back to reality!!!

  • Just went to that concert, awsome!

  • wow and just now I get the pleasure of reading all the close minded elitist U2 fans chime in with their whiney opinions about what a disgrace this was and Jay-Z fucked up what is abrelya song to begin with. Not only are they close minded to a fresh take on an old song some of they feel the need to toss out racists remarks about Jay-Z being lynched. Good job you fucking ass clowns. Way to do U2 proud.

  • Asa diehard U2 fan who's seen them 16 times all over North America and Europe this version was better than the one without Jay-Z in my opinion.

  • @Hallucination By version I mean Performance.

  • Deleting comments from me and others since yesterday huh? Aren't you brave? Tool.

  • @Maideneer i was trying to delete any argumentative comments, but got bored of doing it after a few. were you in favour of u2 or jay-z? i forget. feel free to repost if oyu can be bothered. frankly the elitist, closed minded u2 crowd are actually embarrassing, but luckily don't represent the entire fanbase at all.

  • thank for sharing :)

  • Thank you, I didn't stay that till the last bit. Check out my video too...

  • i got to hear the unforgettable fire in sweden, so im happy as hell

  • This is wicked!!

  • thanx for the video collian2 I woke up at 2.oo am in Los Angeles to see U2 cant wait for the Anaheim show and Mexico City tour . YEAH!!!!! U2 es Muy Bueno

  • i was there woooooooooo good concert

  • effing amazing, shivers all over for sure!

  • HOVVVVVVV hahah yesss!!

  • great quality

  • Skip the Jay-Z "rejoice" spam and we're good to go! :P

I rather liked the actual rap though

  • @Carlibengarli I completely agree....skip the Jay-Z stuff. I respect Jay-Z as an artist but he doesn't match up very well with U2. Otherwise, I, along with what I am sure are many other U2 fans must be VERY pleased to see this song return to power!

  • After looking forward to hearing this rarity we have to suffer a rapper on the song. Are you kidding me, if he had appeared on stage during the October tour he would have been lynched! Feckin disgrace.

  • @zebradee2009 its such a shame that hes doing the lynching! LOL

  • I guess U2 is trying to stay revelant for all ages. After 1 min I just stopped it. I don't like it imho...

  • First time playing this live, and they let this guy rap over it? What a shame.

  • Jay-z is fuckin' amazing!

  • I like that they give a different twist to the Aung part of the show, with the happy Scarlet's "REJOOOOICE" refrain instead of the sad MLK we were used to.

I love the audience participation too, if they'd been a bit more into it this...

On the other hand, Jay-Z completely fucked up a beautiful song.

  • well now we know how to ruin a classic U2 song, awesome song but absolutly awful with this idiot trying rap in it

  • @rachelellis76 na bitch, u know how 2 ruin it, with your bad judgement call, who nominated you 2 investigate, they entertain us how they wanna do it, your mad cause you didnt go to the concert aint ya tramp,... haha your the 76th one with your name, eeew theres 75 more just like you, i bet they went to the concert 2, just not you,... p.s jay z dont care what u think ur just a little speck, ha haaaaar.

  • this jay-z is just terrible

  • beautiful vidéo, great song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing..thanks for sharing.

  • yassss history!

  • 29 years isn't too long to wait for this song again.

  • I was in Berlin with SBS+ Jay-Z No matter how hard I try: I don't get it. U2 should stop with trying to be "hip" You Already Are Relevant No Matter What. Rap doesn't mix with the amazing U2 songs. Please stop that foolishness. I doesn't work.

  • @Raoul16 They're not trying to be hip.. they're collaborating with another artist, trying to create/say something new. it's not foolishness; it's an attempt at growth

  • I love how Jay-Z raps here. Great to see something from October on the setlist. The best band to ever walk the earth in the past 30 years.

  • @BeachBoy1100 amen brother. amen.

  • I love that they're playing this!!! Finally sone recognition for October. I hope they're still doing it when they hit the states next year...when we won't have to deal with Jay-Z mucking it up ;) I love how the crowd continues to sing "Reeejooooooiiiiiice"

  • Rejooooooooooooooooooooooooice! :D (Not Rejoice, Rejoice, Rejoice....rap crap...)

  • Too bad they decided to "rap this song up". If this is the way to bring old songs back, then I'd rather have them NOT bringing old songs back.

  • Amazing sound ! Thx for sharring.

  • Even with Jay Z, I'm glad they decided to finally play Scarlet.

  • So glad jay z isn't the support act at the shows I'm attending

  • Rejoooooice! :D

  • Thank god they are bringing an old song back, but, with rapping as part of it? It's like presenting a 5 year old with a birthday cake, having them cut into it only to find out it's made of cardboard. Gee thanks.

  • Comment removed

  • Just got home from this concert, can still feel the chills from this song. Beautiful sound and an amazing crowd.

  • Thrilled they're doing this song live. One of my favorites from "October". Love Jay-Z's part, too.
