UNfortunately since the unexpected success of the relaunched Dr WHo all BBC sci-fantasy drama has been homegenised and you can count off the features using a checklist -

drumming music bed to create faux 'tension' - check

muted lighting with fluorescent washout - check

dialogue/exposition limited to 3mins per piece - check

scene change marked by explosive sound effects - check

cast too good looking to care about - check

minority ethnic cast members in unimportant roles - check

The politest thing I can think to say about this collection of poorly crafted and ill conceived series of action sequences is that the makers quite obviously inhale the flatulence from deceased canines rectums.

I couldn't agree more. It's as if the BBC have gone out of their way to make a challenging, many-layered classic into a cliche-laden pile of dog poo. The triffids have gained brawn, but lost all their 'brains'.
