@dEdmontonTV I use a really thick mache mixture (about 3 parts Elmer's Glue to 1 part water) and heavy duty Viva paper towels. Primarily I apply small pieces of towels soaked in the mache and then shred them carefully with a drywall screw. I shred the piece, then allow it to set up for a bit ,and then come back and shred again until I like the look. There's also a little bit of rolling up small pieces of towels and applying them, sort of like making a snake with Play-Doh or clay.
