A total class film. One of the best American films I've seen. Might be an argument to say it's actually better than Chinatown. John Heard is utterly amazing in it and it keeps on giving till the very end. Very one should know this film.
Somebody PLEASE upload any scene of the movie with John Heard. This film deserves a wider audience. The Universal DVD is all right, but the Criterion treatment would rightfully boost its forgotten reputation.
I saw the opening years before seeing the entire movie; I didn't know what it was about, but there's something powerful and disturbing in the images, along with Nitzsche's wonderful score, that made impossible for me to forget it. The rest is on par with the beginning: this is one of the most underrated American films of the 80's.

A terrific film. John Heard is excellent, as is the rest of the cast.
Another great excellent performance by Heard: Chilly Scenes of Winter, directed by Joan Micklin Silver.

Very good film. One of the best film noir thrillers of the '80s, hands down.
