@InteractiveHealing Well, I'll be....you did look at it! THAT'S what I'm talkin' about...
he tore his acl at the end of 2008 I believe it was, went through surgery and a lot of pain to come back. Had a screw in his knee. I saw all that on youtube...didn't even know til then. I'd LOVE to see him win at World. He deserves it!!
I think if they are going to score like that, then they should have a category for single ice dancers!
Then let's see who takes the gold every time, eh? How about that?? Wouldn't that be more like it?
That would make the competitions more dynamic & colorful....a richer experience. And the figure skating fans who really appreciate artistry will flock to these events in droves...
If Daisuke didn't make those mistakes in his short program, it didn't matter if he landed the quad in the FS or not...Patrick Chan cannot measure up to Daisuke.
You should hear the commentators on italian TV!! They love a lot Dai and say he's from another planet, because every moviment of his body follows the musical notes to express perfectly the spirit of the music. Berton/Hotarek, during the trasmission, said "Fantastic, exiting, Dai left us speechless!"
It's the pleasure to watch daisuke't skating. Like the commentator said even he doesn't jump, I still feel that he is dancing and flying. He is the best in the world. I love his skating.
@chief34523 Then Chan doesn't know how to land jumps. He botched two 4T and even fell in 3Lz. And you obviously don't know how to read protocols. Chan's TES was 87.59 while Takahashi's 87.05. They were technically even.
Takahashi should have got much higher PCS than Chan, though, especially in PE, CH and IN. Chan is the only skater who get rewarded in PE by falling. Maybe the judges can not tell his butt from his feet.
@chief34523 Haha, that's actually very funny... Chan does the big jumps? And I guess that only means the 4T? If that's why he's better than Dai (who's btw the only one even attempting a 4F which is even more difficult), then Javier is the new king, jumping 4T + 4S!
And even funnier: shouldn't big jumps especially include the Axel, since it's generally the hardest jump? How funny than, that Chan regulary has problems with his 3A... and Dai doesn't.
I couldn't agree more about this being the winning FS and EVERYONE can see that...unless they're blind and deaf. It was a travesty for Chan to walk away with the gold. I found it outrageous and then he acted like he actually earned it. If I was ever much of a fan of his, not anymore. Canada, YOU can have him! Daisuke, we <3 <3 <3 you and your beautiful artistic showmanship and skill. And you are gracious and sweet too!! You've got it all,
This performance was much better than the one at NHK Trophy, but PCS is 5 points lower. On the other hand, Chan fell once and had two more jump mistakes, yet got the seasonal best. There is something very wrong in this sport, and Skate Canada is killing it with Chan. If this continues, no one will take figure skating seriously as a sport anymore, and Soch could be its last Olympics.
Perhaps the judges" were absent" while Daisuke was skating, so they have not seen this masterpiece. Dai is not limited to skate, he became the musical instrument which expresses the notes.Magic!
Every part of his body, even every strand of his hair were in sync with sultry Blues. Deeply moving and highly artistic. Dai on Ice is like Beethoven on piano.
I love how his coach is fan-girling at the end of his footwork LOL. What a great performance. Should've won the freeskate or at least the PCS since he actually shows some personality. Nobody else could skate properly to this music. I don't even like the music and yet I love his performance.
@BlackRoseKonan About that 5.5 judging score, it is either a typo or a call for investigation on seriously biased judging! I too don't understand how Chan hasn't been skating perfectly in his competitions the whole season, yet he still managed to win everything?!
@sunxiaoran I fear it's not a typo, the same judge gave him a 6,75 for choerography... whatever that person was looking at. I really hope that judge had to justify that later.
There was also a 4.75 for Brezina in transitions. Or one judge had Javier more than 1 point lower than the others in PCS... the ISU should really re-think if what they're doing there makes sense -.-
@Tommymanjusri Agreed on the Skating skills - but on the other part, holy shit no!O___o (and even the SS aren't that much higher)
How on earth does Chan have better fottwork, choreography or transitions than Takahashi? That may be the case when Chan skates to his full potential - but with the mess he skated in this FS and his fall + 3 step outs - never.
@Tommymanjusri I'll give more difficult transitions to Patrick Chan, but everything else is so subjective. How would anyone define "better" choreography, footwork, etc? Judging just from this competition, all of the artistic component Execution level should be higher for Takahashi than Chan.
But then again, figure skating is artistic and subjective, which makes it all the more exciting :)
WOW AWESOME!

I hate blues music. And I think the only person in the world who could make me love it is Daisuke Takahashi.

He continues to be my favorite skater! With or without a quad I could watch him dance on ice forever!!!!!!

They are so rotten.

It´s doesn´t matter if Chan won or not. Performances I´ll se again and again and again are Dai´s, not Chan. I´m moved by the instrument "Dai".

I'm pretty sure everyone agrees that it was Dai > Chan for the FS... even Chan-fans and canadians I heard agreed on that.
One jugde gave Takahashi a 5.5 for linking footwork... that's just aweful. Really don't know what the ISU thinks there doing.
He was plain brilliant, and I hope he keeps that form over this season. If the judges stop being idiots, he's sure to be way up there for worlds!<3

@selenity08 because Chan has better SS, choreography, better transition, better footworks
Dai should have the best interpretation score, that's for sure.
