  • What kind of gas mileage does it get?

  • @cobrachoppergirl 125 mpg

  • I have a very old RE 350cc OHV with rigid frame and same type of front suspension. Year of Manufacture is unknown, prob 1928. I would be very grateful to anyone who can give me some leads to buy some spares such as the Mag and oil pump driving gear etc. This is prob the only bike in Sri Lanka as i have never seen one ever.

  • Hi, just picked up a 1950 Flying Flea and need parts for it. Magneto, carb, gearbox cover. Any suggests? Cheers from Canada

  • Thanks, zaphondhornblower!

That's a very useful bit of information. I didn't mean riding it as a primary mode of transport, more of a weekend/monthly ride.

  • hi thanks have you seen my flea had it for 35+ years still runs

  • Does anyone know about how feasible it is to ride the RE 125. I heard that the belt breaks after about 10 kicks. Is that true? I'm considering restoring one, is it ever ridable or will have to settle for a show piece?

  • Enfield is chain drive..the kickstarter has a ratchet and pawl.the pawl and ratchet lose thier squareness and stop engaging..it can be repaired with a file.but requires taking down the engine.they are roughly 4 hp .max speed is aprox 60 kph mine has no speedo.the engine is 5.5.1 compression.very low.runs on low octane feul nps.125 mpg as well.power and speed are low. meant to go foward in battle. not win races.relaible when sorted. but not fast.definate gas saver 125mpg...belts?

  • designed for feul economy wartime..not horsepower like modern engines..

  • nice 1 awesome bikes..im after information on operation use in ww2..i know they were used on d day as i have photos of one then..but unit information etc wood be nice as im trying to amass enuf for a website including full werkshop manuals for anybody who needs them Darren

  • When I was 16 (in 1973) I took my RAC/ACU test. We had the choice of a Norman Nippy moped, a BSA 125 Bantam (rigid frame) or - an Enfield Flying Flea. I went for the little Enfield and it stuck. Bought a Crusader Sports, passed my test, and bought a Continental GT (for £75) which I still own and use regularly. A fine machine indeed, the buzzing flea!

  • sorry i got that wrong the name is

    John McCormack....that will help

  • ill take it hehehe

  • I've heard this voice in other war time pieces. Who is singing this?

  • l had a flea that l bought off a rag and bone man in 1978..it was converted to run on cod liver oil ..l could get about 54 miles per 500 capsules..you try that on a modern bike without making your warranty void!

  • first bike i ever bought with my paper round money it cost 4 pounds about 50 years ago.

  • Great video. The dropping frames are very interesting. I have been to the landing sites and so know all about the history this is just a bit of extra knowledge. Thank you.

  • the droping frame used by the royal enfield was called the bird cage..im thinking of building an exact replica for my bike..

  • Very Good!

  • Great video . Thanks a lot . 50 years in India , the legend rides on . Undoubtedly the best amongst all british motorcycles.

  • Well done executed with love, maybe only understood by motorcyclists
