I have so far upgraded to a corsair 430cx PSU and an ATI Radeon 5670, the only thing left to upgrade is the stock asus mobo, and the stock amd athlon 64x2 4400+ replacing the proc with an AMD phenom x4 965 black edition

@nfarnham2008 THat would be the Biostar TA790GX A3+ This is what mine was called and nows its dying ..i think lol so im upgrading to Biostar TA870+ for the new unlocking feature plus it will take the later AMD 6X cores too :-)

UPDATE!! now my 965BE is running at 3.4 ghz here is the fix copy and paste this click on the first sit look down it will be grayed out!! worked fine for me!! GUIDE c3/c2 x4 955/965 working with TA790GX 128m

@FELIX0123 they make inexpensive products with high performance, but build quality isn't as good as some of the big brands, tho it's price and performance justify that, it's just my opinion

Beter thant the Asus version of the 790gx. I did'nt like the GX SERIES even the 890gx. But for a media pc the 890gx will do at this time. Nice video the Biostar quality really gained  ground in quality and perforance leaving the compitition behind. The better thing the success of biostar was shared with the customer.

i have the sam mobo. it dont support the amd 965 cpu. oh it works but it runs at 800mhz and theres not a dam thing you can do about it but Upgrade the mobo. its on biostars website the cpu that it supports. what kills me is that it supports all the way up to a AMD Phenom II X4 x945 but not the 965 i just got.. other then that this is a good mobo been very happy with it untill now

@willz131285 it might or might not, last time i checked it does not support 955 or 965 but if u in luck they updated bios to support these chips then it would be good, go to biostar's official site and find the board and go to cpu support list

did some tests with my 4850 - there's no difference running at 8x or 16x spped on the PCIE slot - so put your graphics card where ever you want...

Also, my board will not unlock a 720BE, when I enable ACC it locks up...

i have the same mobo got it at micro center for $140 at the time. this is my set up. amd 965 BE. 3.4 ghz x4. two 5850 runin in cross fire. 8 gb ram. window 7 64bit. i have to say im very happy with this set up. i play all games wide open like RE5. with out standing fps!! i love this dam thing!!

@kenkem396 I had that same rig as you have with the 965 Black Edition. Later, i found out that this motherboard cannot support the full power of the processor. It only runs at 800.00 Mhz which is a waste of it's potential. You might want to test the speed. If your not getting a rating of 7.4 on Windows 7 ratings for processing speed then you will know. I got a new motherboard and it's fine now. Just hoping to help. :D

@KILLCOMBO first of all, do u mean 550Black edition? never heard of 545 unless if it's some brand name pc's oddball oem chip?

and fusion.. well, it disable window function to help performance, but it doesn't boost it's speed, the oc part really only oc by a small portion, i don't use it, it messes up my connection and such, i just overclock the system myself

@KILLCOMBO depends on what card ur using, some of the lower ends u may not see a difference, but 16x is the full speed as it should be. might as well enable it regardelss it's benefits. u will see difference in benchmark for sure tho

I have this motherboard and it has 2 PCI express x16. But my question is, one says "SLAVE" and the other says "MASTER". Currently I have HIS 4870 installed on "MASTER" and is blocking the one of the PCI slots.

Is it OK if I move 4870 from "MASTER" to "SLAVE"?

I only have 1 graphics card!!!

it's okay to do that, but u need to remember to put that card thing that came with the motherboard in empty slot to make it 16x

just got the ta790gx 128m few weeks ago. runing 2 4850 in crossfire. at the time the mobo was $120 at microcenter . what nice about it you can slap a am3 in this bitch. so far really happy with this mobo. i really dont care for OC but this thing has it all!! great crossfire board. 10 out of 10

i dont think its the board i have been doing more reading and i am a 90% sure its a grounding issue ore something interfearing with it.

i need some grounding loop ( no idea what that is)

but in the mean time i have purchessed a little USB to sound thinngy.

the reason i dont think its the board because the microphone works perfectly and i can hear audio aswell.

Hey dude i have the same board as you and i am having a problem with the onboard sound when i install the audio driver off the cd it makes my speakers start crackling and making fuzzy noises.

and i know its the driver not the ports because headphone jack on the front of my case does the same thing and i have tested it with diffrent sets of speakers still the fuzzy noise but when i dont have the driver installed it is silent.

also with the driver installed even if the sound is....

in easiler term, that's where it controls power flow that comes in the system so it's very important tat they stay cool,. and this mobo is crossfire , u cannot do nvidia's sli but u can certainly use nvidia video cards

if it doesn't have options it's likely that it is a budget board or brand name pc, that doesnt' provide anything tweak options,

X4 940 i had did 4Ghz on stock 3.6Ghz is last stable on stock
