what size litres or cc is the engine on a class 40 i know its 16 cylinders the 37s are 12 cylinders the 44 to 47 are sulzer ship engines of 246 litres just wondering what the growlers would be anyone ????
@M374EVL Well, i can tell you that an EMD V12 or V16 '710' engine is 11.6 litre per cylinder. Seeing as though the 16csvt in a 50 or 40 has a slightly longer stroke, it would be a little more than 11.6 L.
Times that figure by 12 OR 16 will give an approximate answer.
80-90mph? I'm not so sure. I thought they could only do 75mph tops. That was the problem with them from when they first came in - they were'nt as fast as intended and were underpowered.
What is a 'thrash?'
