Most of his matches are him being merciless the first couple rounds then losing a bit and winning in a stunning manner close to defeat.

On a good day Mago is easily just as good. Daigo doesn't give excuses for his loses so why are you "fans" so quick to? When he loses online: It's not him, it's his friend. When he loses in a tournament: He wasn't playing seriously. And I don't even have enough characters remaining to list off all of the creative excuses people came up with for why he lost so badly to Poongko at Evo2k11. Guys, your idol isn't invincible. Mago was playing very aggressive in this yet also read him like a book.

Poongko is probably the most aggressive player I've seen in SF tourneys. When his Seth is on he's unbeatable.

He only lost that tourney because he made two execution errors.

There was NOTHING lucky about the match between Daigo's Guile and Mago's Fei Long, those air grabs were ON point, he had Mago up against a wall in fear of doing that move because he knew he would just get air grabbed over and over again. @Adi4fly not really, he plays Mago a lot on Godsgarden and by backing up and baiting Mago he just shows he respects Mago and he actually knows that Mago knows his shit really well. Thats for he doesn't go with full force on Mago, because he knows that Mago is dangerous :)

From the very beginning I could tell that Daigo was gonna save that ultra 2 till the end. He chose it for a reason. He's a showman(NOT SHOWOFF) and likes to please the crowd. He never goes for a cheapshot ultra after a focus.(did you notice how many times the commentators said "he could have used ultra to punish) I'm guessing that whether he won or lost, he wanted to go out in style. It just didn't workout for him this time. He was fighting Mago after all.

I main ryu and thats a 2-8 match up in Fei Long favor in my book, Daigo performed so many miracles by just winning some games.

@chargr2004 We only had 10 people enter the high rollers instead of 16 so Mago won $700 and Daigo won $200. It would have been better to do high rollers after the tourney but there wasn't a good opportunity to do so since the after party was on the Sunday. I think Mike Ross was sleeping during this time and JWong didn't want to participate. I assume both didn't want to enter to prevent Mago from figuring out counter strats before the tourney.
