Such beautiful shoes! Such a shame hardly anything like these shoes are made in USA anymore. The quality was higher, and now we end-up spending unnecessary amounts on repairs. Penny-wise, pound-foolish. Sadly, the makers are like everyone else-"in it for the almighty buck".
An easier and cheaper way to do this is use tape on the end of the lace until it is longer than from one hole to the next! I just did it too... Took about 5 minutes :)
