@1999lev You won't be disappointed! In fact, we just did a review of the beetle cabriolet this week - check out our channel page for the latest episode of Car Room Report to see the car.
@Thecarroom Great review, Mine just arrived today. you were right about not being disappointed, the detail is just amazing. I think im gonna have to get the Microbus to go with it
I ordered the Saloon Beetle with Sliding sunroof so mine lacks a few features the the convertible has(Working Windows).
How is the quality of the folding top mechanism on the Cabriolet? I chose not to get that one because I was afraid that it would be to delicate an break easily.
@1999lev Hello, Anthony - It's actually really well done - at least on the four or five samples I've had my hands on. You do want to keep the top up, though, as much as possible, just to keep the fabric stretched and flexible. The mechanism works smoothly, and it's surprisingly easy to operate, as long as you don't force anything.
Just recently I bought a Shelby convertible Mustang for ($49) I think or i think ($40), its a 1/18 scale and when i bought it and took out of the box the noticed that because of the car being a die cast the mass of the metal pushed down on the car causing the wheels on the front to push away at an angle (which i did not like). Do these cars do the same?
@compound32 It really depends on the model, the weight, and the structure beneath. Some models have accurately sprung suspensions - they ride and compress at a rate and height that replicates the real vehicle's. Some are stiffly sprung, and some others have no suspension at all - we call these "static" suspensions. Others have loose fitting pieces that can make the wheels kick out (like the Shelby you're talking about), or look wrong. Is the model you got one from the Shelby Collectibles line?
@Thecarroom oh, and no, actually I got my shelby from a store, called Hobby something...so it was store boughten if your talking about the kind of like place where they made it, then I dont know, I just bought the car.
Great review as always but the music is far too intrusive, it really spoils these reviews. Why do you need to have music playing? It`s really annoying and gets in the way of the review. Please loose the music.
@bttfspencer Thanks! We also do a live show every Saturday night at 7PM Eastern US on The Car Room web site. Just enter "Thecarroom", then the "dot com" and click the "watch it live" ison.

Did you say this model is $150? 7:42 A 1/12 for that price is crazy cheap, especially for such a detailed model.
legr8est1234 1 year ago
@legr8est1234 Yeah - the price went up a tick to around $200.00, though - this is an older video. Still a lot of bang for the buck.

This is Sunstar?!? Wow, they've really come a long way! I've got a DMC-12 by Sunstar and it's not exactly the best built model I've got...

@Ferrariman601 They're really making great strides to install better features and killer detail - and they're succeeding, for the most part.
