This was shown at the Saturday morning KIDDIE show when I was 8 & my brother was 6. They really did wire the seats with some kind of buzzer/vibrating thing AND they threw rubber lobsters from the balcony.
My brother was so traumatized my parents almost took him to a psychiatrist. He thought Tinglers were coming out of his closet & had Tingler nightmares every night for 3 months.
We weren't allowed to see scary movies for the next 4 years. :-(
jomogo go trust me i knoe. The lsd scene in this 59 shocker was well done. the fact a remake is being done sickens me. we dont need that nor a remake of 50s horror or sci fi. leave well enough alone. im a horror film historian i know of what i speak. The Tingler 1959 from william castle is fine as it is. NO NEED FOR A REMAKE. No question question the lsd update jomogo instead question the stupidity of a REMAKE> NO NEED FOR IT> TOM KES a man who truly knows his horror films
GREAT FILM FUNNY CORNY and the monster unforgettable but its a gem . i saw it in 59, it was scarey but PRICE is having fun the cast funny for wrong reasns but i got it on dvd. watch the documentary on the making of this film. its a classic . the actirs had a great time. im a horror film sci fi historian. i knew many of these actors. have my own website n these forgotton films & the actors in them. THE TINGLER is BRILLIANTLY PLAYED out. enjoy. TOMK a man who knows these horrors
@MrDefaulto if you've seen it, can you remember if the "and it is from this world of darkness which comes the evil destructive forces in man's nature"-quote is in there?

Back when movies were fun. Our generation needs a William Castle.

They're doing a remake of The Tingler this year, wonder if they're going to keep the LSD scene and do it up right with special effects?
