neil peart is one of the greatest drummers of all time, not just his drumming ability but the way he changes the beat throught the son. neil will always be the greatest
i actually dont really like neils drumming with rush. the song limelight is amazing but what impresses me is the guy never stops learning. the fact that he did that buddy rich memorial concert and learned the jazz perspective of drumming makes you have to like him. he's just a nice guy and a great drummer and he is more well rounded than the other guys out there
I read an article where Neil was quoted as saying, "It's kind of embarrassing to be called the best drummer in the world when you know yourself that it isn't true. I'm very flattered, however."
@theburyboys as for me being a Neil Peart fan for years and years,I personaly think there is no one out there that can touch Buddy Rich..there are other great drummers perhaps better than Neil yet there is no one out there that can bring to you the drum kit in such a way that he does..he is one of the most gifted,and no one could ever fill his slot ...Neil even knows he isn't the best" but one of the most listened to.hope you dont mind me commenting
@TheErnst1969 - I totally agree with you. Neil has inspired so many not only with his drumming, but also with his words. He is actually my favorite, not only for his drumming, but also his intellect. There's no one quite like him. I could go on for pages. Cheers!
Panasper. It's all a matter of personal taste. Just because a huge majority of consensus places Neil at the very top does not make it so. Then again, what other real measure is there to use? So I'm sorry but you loss. Continue to back your faves though! Those you mentioned are very good. Mike Portnoy is my number 2.
Best drummers in the world? Dennis Chambers, Dave Weckyl, Tony Royster Jr., are just some that come to mind...go check out their videos...Neil? he's good...but he couldnt touch who l just mentioned...sorry Neil.
I have to laugh at all these "isolated track" videos popping up on YouTube. All they are are tracks thrown out of phase, making some aspect stick out more. A true isolated track can only taken from the master multi-track tape. Stop it with the fake videos already. Jeez.
@Michael55443 That is not true. The Rock band video game they get the master tracks from the artist to use and if you know what your doing you can get the individual instruments as their own piece. But anyways this one is horrible
