nothing goes on the grates... it is only there to keep the fish, frogs and lizard from stirring up the crap that goes thru the grate ... the whole point of the angled bottom was for easy cleaning.... I hook a water hose to the drain valve.. and drain the water into the flower bed.... then I can wash the whole inside and it drain to the drain hose and easier to clean more often.... the old tank was real hard to clean.
Problem areas: the concrete backer board actually absorbs water... maybe I used the wrong side? I put spray in bed liner on the back to keep it from soaking thru to the back... also.. I had to seal the waterfall landing areas with epoxy.. the grout shrunk a little and caused cracks.. so I filled in the cracks the 2 part epoxy and it should do the trick.... other than that.. it looks like it is almost ready for the lizard... thanks for all the comments..

I know this video is kind of old but this is one of the best cages I have seen yet. Do you have an plans for building this?
