Dude, sorry but that's a totally sucky way to teach this, Me, teacher in NYC. This is old school crap, sorry! Here's what to show: the keys are either in 2 black or 3 black key group. Then you visually identify any of 12 keys by it's placement in either 2 or 3 grp. Then you play each of 12 notes, one at a time, over entire keyboard!
Haha thank you *muuuuaaaahhh on cheek* thanks so much, I took piano lessons for a year like 3 years ago and I needed to remember the keys, because my keyboard hasn't been working because i lost the cord to it, but today I got a new keyboard!
that goes against musical theory. there is no half step between B and C. just like there is no half step between E and F. those notes are just what they are, no b flat, no c sharp. just B and C.
Hello there, just a friendly response to your comment. There is a B flat also refered to as A #, also there is a C# also refered to as D flat. But I think you were meant to say there is no B# or C flat. The sharps and flats depend on which way your moving along the notes. Between A and B and C and D there are accidentals, otherwise known as sharps and flats. Cheers! I think I know what you meant though!
ahh no i can play the piano very well and i cant read notes at all! my system goes more like "the white note on the left in the middle betweet the black keys" lol (ha i no thats confusing)
woah! thanks ... i sorta knew what the notes were anyway but the sharps and flats.. i knew about them but you just described it better than anyone else has to me! Thanks .. im getting a keyboard in 3 days woo (not like im counting dowm ir anything) Thanks Dude
even though it starts on a different note, you should still watch it becasue this is a really helpful video on the concepts of the piano. =] thanks for posting!!

dimebagman08 3 years ago
a lot of ppl play instruments without reading music, its called playing by ear.
i play by ear, i just think of how a song/melody sounds and find it on the keyboard.
i want to learn how to read music to make things a bit quicker and easier.
