  • Damn Nature, YOU SCARY!

  • Go sticky!!!

  • i cud never keep a bug as a pet lol i hate when bugs crawl on me, makes my spine chill

  • For everyone who is new and wants to start keeping insect, I suggest these beginner species:

Stick insects: Extatosoma tiaratum / Carausius morosus / Phyllium giganteum

Mantids: Sphodromantis lineola / hierodula membranacea

    Butterflies/moths: Attacus atlas

ALL OF THESE ARE AWESOME!! TRY THEM :D :D :D

  • cool ive subscribed to you lol

  • hi i have a stick insect i got it from kellyvile pets PS i am Australian

  • None of them are female!!! They are...asexual! lol. their children are identical to them like a clone, a natural one.

  • @TheCockstain They are not asexual, they do have a sex. Some species reproduce parthenogenitically meaning that a female can reproduce with only one gamete but can only give offspring to more females. Sexual reproduction is needed with a male to create other males.

  • Where did you get it? Shes Cool

  • So cute he named her "Sticky."

  • pokemon !

  • lesbo insects. lol jk

  • how bout the ones that look like leaves?? are they as easy to take care of?

they are sooo cool and their really easy to take care of and i have a glass terrarium to keep them in ... and if there missing legs they grow back so dnt worry if their missing legs

  • That's awesome man.

  • hi i have stick insects but i dont no how to separte the eggs from there poo lol so its just like how old are they when they start laying eggs mine are around 4 months but there still realy small there insian stick insects so can u help lol mine are missing some legs to

  • @missplayboy1998 Hey there, ok so the eggs are a greyish color with a black "cap/cork" on one end. Fecal matter, it brown and little pellets. You won't be finding any eggs until your stick insects are fully grown. Don't worry about lost limbs. Sticky was missing three out of 6 legs when I first aquired her lol... within a few molts she regenerated all of them. At 4 months of age your stick insects aren't full grown and will slowly grow those legs back :).

    Hope this helps :), Reptiliatus

  • @Reptiliatus the eggs of mine are brown and the surface is even. and their poop is black and the surface is not even at all. also, when you squeeze the eggs liquid comes out.

  • @Reptiliatus I just caught a stick insect in the wild (back yard), I don't know how to take care of it. It caught my attention when I saw it move, I went to get a jar and of all things it started to fly but I saw no wings? What the heck? Anyway that is what made me search stick insect info and I ran into your video. What now?

  • @Reptiliatus Oh, it's about an inch long and the with of a needle, don't know if it's a baby. don't know what to feed it, there were bamboos nearby so, ?

  • @missplayboy1998 dont worry if their missing legs because they grow straight back and it is very hard too seperate their eggs from their poo.. lol thats why i have so many bahaha stick insects are sooo cutee x

  • my chameleon would love to eat him, i think ill have to buy a couple as feeders.

  • Haha I couldnt actually tell the difference between the tree and the stick insect I thought it was just a twig until I looked properly I wouldnt be able to stand a pet like that makes me feel sick just looking at them, they deffo need a big mac or some sort of junk food to fatten em up!

  • i just got one yesterday and i didn't buy it from someone do i need to feed it Romain lettuce?

  • actually there ARE NOT males. there are females, and hermaphrodites

  • do u still have her did see lay eggs

  • what about cherry leafs

  • i caught one! and let it go tho bvecuase i think it hated me. idk can i tame them? how?

  • im geting two and i big tank and im going to take alote of acre of them

  • what kind of stick insect is that ... it has horns on its head you can see them at 1:00

  • I love walkingstiks!! the are soo sweet

  • thats nasty!

  • @unknowuser10 Why is it nasty? lol

  • @unknowuser10 why nasty?

  • where did u get it

  • @nigatigga123456789 Scaryguys' exotics, located in Shakespear Ontario :). Great people, great business

  • but they are pretty cool :D

  • this ones actually not PSG1, it has horns on her head

  • Interesting, thanks.

  • Comment removed

  • cool vid there is alot of cools ones you can get i have got some

  • Ya I know eh!? Only problem is alot of the more exotic species require very specific and rather "hard to aquire" veggetation as food such as gum, and eucalyptus leaves which are close to impossible to aquire in Canada let alone branble during the winter... Also many of these insects are banned in Canada :(... I admire you for owning some, very cool indeed!

  • So... I want to get one, but I'm not so sure that I want to have babies everywhere. So, if I DON'T put any dirt/ substrate on the bottom of the enclosure, it won't be able to reproduce right?

  • Technically yes, you won't have any little babies if you use paper towel. But... It's not that your stick bug won't lay eggs its that they won't survive on paper towel so you might aswell raise them! :)

  • is it ok to put plastic pants in the tank for them to climb on?

does it have to be live plants?

  • i want 1! :D

  • Then get one! They are soooo cool!

  • There are some male indian walking sticks but they need to come from a sexual breeding. All the females are clones.

  • cool.

  • Thanks

  • No, sorry... Sticky died of old age last summer.... Rip

  • hey dude i have a couple of questions

do u have a lid on stickys enclouser

    do they get really big

and how long do they live for

  • Hey, yes I had a lid on my stick bugs enclosure. They don't get very big. They're just long and thin... probly around 6 inches. They don't live long at all. usually around 8-10 months from birth.

  • have to what?

  • bugs are lizard food...no affence..there still kool...lmao

  • Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I respect yours. Let me tell you though that there are dozens of insects and other invertabrates out there that would make nothing more then a snack out of a lizard...lol

  • i have a male & a female she died after she layed eggs now i have 5 baby females!! ( one male ) ( i know there female because the male always bit the female )

  • Thats sweet! nice!, sorry about your female but insects generally die pretty fast after reproduction with the exception of a few species such as roaches! lol

  • Why do they sway their front legs that way? it did it in my direction, and for some reason, i started waving back. it starts walking towards me :P

  • I can't say I'm exactly sure but I would think it's the insect's way of mimiking branches/twigs in the wind swaying back and forth.... Does that make sense? I've noticed this behaviour particularly in mantids.

  • i had a male indian if females lay eggs they will have a 40% chance of hatching and if they hatch it will only be a female males can produce both sexes

  • Hmmm, thats neat... Where did you find that out?

  • umm just because they produce asexually does not make them female, rather they do not have a specific gender

  • Actually, the insect is female. Although it reproduces a-sexually, it has no sperm and thus creates genetically identical offspring of itself without the need of the male aka sperm :P. Sincerely, Dayyan

  • Hmm true, but they aren't ALL female, there are males, but, like you said, they reproduce asexually, therefore the males aren't needed for reproduction, but there are males, so I don't know what you're on about...

  • Hi,

    yes your right...:)

I'm going to edit this mistake seeing as I shold have been sure about what I was saying before telling everyone and obviously because it isn't correct info. Thanks :)

  • @Reptiliatus You're welcome, and I apologise if i sounded rude in my comment, I just re-read it and it sounds like I have some attitude problem, which I don't :P, anyway sorry!

  • Hi i got a indian stick insect I need some advice I sprayed some tap water on it first time and I have read that it harms them will it kill them?

  • Hi cool video Im getting some indian stick insects off a friend at the weekend, any tips?

  • this is a great video !!

    u ROCK !

    !

  • Thank you so much! :D

  • Glad I could entertain/educate!

  • i keeping my indian walkingsticks in a aquarium/terrarium with the aquarium-light on to keep them warm. are it wrong way, or right way?

i giving them salad. when i tries to feed dem they won't eat.

i got a stick with only 4 legs, and the two missing legs has not growed back, after 1month since i got them. what do i do wrong?

  • The method of husbandry you described seems apropriate although I can't help but insist you mist the enclosure daily to keep the humidity relative (you don't want it too dry)... I'm afriad I can't help regarding the eating problem. If they all refuse lettuce it means the person you got them from was feeding them some other form of vegetation and you'll have to inquire on what that was... Common plant leaves are bramble and rasberry but still ask... hope this helps

  • sticky hehehehe i have a male i had 3 there brown thin and longer antenis the females do u have a maclays spectre

  • Im gettig Indian Stick insects. I am a first time bug/insect keeper, unless you count Mexican jumping beans as bugs/insects. Your videos have been very helpful and I hope to get a Bearded Dragon soon. I have subscribed because your videos are amazing. Keep up the good work!

    -Myles,

  • What stick insects eat? nice vid

  • I've loved bugs since i was 4 years old! I've seen one similar to these twice now except it was green. Very cool. It was at my school during P.E. outside on a brick wall. My stupid teacher thought i was going to kill it if I keep it. >:( I wouldn't have killed it! I would've fed it and let it die on it's own like normal. When it's time to go it's time to go, am I right?

  • Lol yeah it"ll be time to go but in captivity their completely at our mercy so we make sure their gonna "live their lives to the fullest" by making sure they have everything they need and we know how to care for them...am I right? :P

  • U must give them more bromble leaf in ur tank.

Ps. Medauroidea extradentata is a very annoying species, because they (one female) can lay 200-1800 eggs. And 50% will hatch after 3-6 month, if u have a male , 90% of the egg will hatch -.-

  • bad keeper

  • Fist off.... I took a look at your channel and I like the animals you keep, good job :)! Second of all, if your going to be the first out of 2,625 people to insult my ability to keep an insect please atleast tell me what I'm doing wrong so that I may correct my mistakes.

    Sincerely, Dayyan

  • i dont think they all are females... few are males.. but it doesnt matter tho lol... cuz of Asexual organs... i can be wrong

  • The Indian walking stick is a very interesting species. There are very, very few males of this species which is why with the absence of one; females are able to produce ofspring a-sexually... There are other animals that are similar in this way. I can't remember the species name of the top of my head right now but I do know there is a speices of anole or gecko that almost always breeds a-sexually because there are so few males. Neat how life finds a way eh?! :p

  • so wered yu buy them and fukin awsum videoi

  • its basically if a female lays an egg with out mating the egg will hatch as a female

if the female lays eggs after mating, the eggs have a 50/50 chance of being male or female

  • there not all female infact belive it or not the females are larger and slightly darker than the males so i tink u got a female there as u said but ye there not all female

  • Evil! Grrrr!

  • You remind of the guy from ugly betty ..the little brother or whatever, although you don't sound or act like him ...no offence ..cool video :) ..ciao.

  • i assume the eggs are fertilized, most insect produce/fertilize eggs after mating

  • live in Austalia and i found a female stick insect and it layed lots of eggs but i didnt have a male could they still hatch

  • What kind do you have there? Well id like to say that not all stick insects are female only some kinds are others have males aswell. It is also better not to fill their enclosure with sticks as in can cause shedding problems. Most stick insects feed on bramble but again that varies with what stcik insect you have.

  • I got a couple of Stick Insects about a week ago, and I'm not too sure what they are. They're only about, I dunno' just under an inch. I think they may be Indians but I don't know. I've been feeding them on rose plan leaves from my garden and they seem happy with it.

  • Thankyou, they are doing very well and havr moulted once now

  • I see these all over the side of my house....that and slugs. Check out my slug video. I would rather see more walking sticks on my house and less slugs.

  • please have more videos i like ur videos

  • Thanks very much! I appreciate reading this from my viewers! You can certainly expect more soon!

  • hey thank for that vid it was reli help full coz i just got 3 stick insects and a baby from my mate and it just lives of stuff in his garden and i dont know wat the food was and im goona try the romaine lettuce help

  • we have 3,I'm glad you mentioned the missinhg legs, not worrying now. why do their legs break off?

  • For many reasons... stress, fragility, lack of humidity deffence mechenism, and simply injury. As long as they are still growing (moulting) they will slowly but surely regenerate their missing limbs. Remember it tipicaly takes two moults for the leg to be completely developes (from my personnal experience) Hope this helps!

  • did you buy them or did you catch them?

  • Hey there, this species of stick insect is native to india thus I purchased it. Thats not to say that it hasn't been introduced to multiple locations in the states sadly...

  • I had some of these when i was little, think i fed it the worng type of leaf and killed her/him, cause she/he didn`t live that long.

  • Sorry to hear that :(.... Next time just use romaine lettuce. Its easy to get a hold of, its cheap and they love it!

  • I had female ones, i soon found out they reproduce without both genders needed. In other words I had a lot of baby sticks running all over my house. My parents were not happy but it was funny. I actually liked having them as pets, easy to keep, easy to handle and very very cheap to buy and keep. perfect teenager pet really.

  • Lol, very nice. And ya perfect teenager pet. Doesn't need much to stay happy. :)

  • sticky :'(

  • best thing to feed them is ivy or bramble leaves

  • Thanks, ya I've read that too. Only problem is when your keeping these insects in Canada, it's kinda hard to aquire these plants during the winter...lol Plus once the've started on one type of plant they are very relluctant to switch or even refuse too.

  • fair enough :P

yer i heard they are hard to change food source...stubborn lil things lol

  • What do they look like when they are molting? because im scared i mistake one being dead

  • Hey, a guy came to my school today and he had a stick insect but it wasnt like that one, it was sorta black and chunky with a scorpian-like tail. Do you know what type it was?

  • technically you can get a male stickinsect, they do not have red armpits like the female,

they will still produce eggs however they have not been fertilised.

  • do u need to clean them out

  • how long do they live

  • Ive read they live around 10 months.

  • from 10 months to 14 months.

  • hey i realy like your vids. i have a question. i have been looking for somewhere to order a stick bug or a nymph but i cant find any where do you know of some where i can order one. thanks

  • I have some stick insects and when they have some more eggs i will post some to you if you give me your address.

  • Hi there, thank you very much for the offer, but I have quite a few eggs now myself! Have you hatched any before? Can I ask how long it takes and is there a special "incubating" requirement for the eggs? aka, moisture, heat, etc. Also what colour are your eggs? , mine are grey with the little black dot. Thanks

  • Hi can I ask where you are located? If you live in ontario I know where you can get some...

  • i live in north carolina USA

  • man.you should make more vids.especially on stick bugs cause not many people do informational or just random vids on they're stick bugs.thanks.*subscribed*

  • Thanks, ya I'm going to soon. Sticky actually just layed a bunch of eggs a couple of weeks ago! Hopefully they'll hatch soon!

  • alright sounds good.Good luck man!

  • I have got stick insect. But he's smaller.

  • Thanks! lol I'll have quite a few baby stickies very soon! She layed a bunch of eggs conceived a-sexually (aka identical to her)!
