Wow! You were lucky, I had postpartum hemorrhage when I had my baby @ the Hospital. It was a C-Section and after I had him I could not stop bleeding so the did an hysterectomy to stop it. I went through years of infertility and finally had a baby, never in a million years I would have thought that I would go through this, I spent 5 days in ICU and had almost all my blood replaced 'cause I lost almost all of it. You have been blessed.
1. Did you breast feed the placenta out (when breastfeeding a chemical reaction occures that seals the bloodvessels that attaches the placenta to the uterin wall)2.Some midwives choose to use traction to get the placenta out (they pull lightly on the cord)
3.Also were you just waiting for the placenta to emerge for were you pushing it out? Your daughter is soo cute! Im glad your birth ended with a complete recovery! I also have my birthvideo online "willows birth" :)
No I did not immediately put baby to breast, that's a whole other story by itself. My midwife believed it to have potential ill effects on the delivery of the placenta (something I wholeheartedly disagree with). She did use traction, the problem was that there was a small tear in the placenta that was preventing it from detaching from the uterine wall as quickly as it should have.
I just had my second baby 12 weeks ago. Hired a different midwife and moved toward my birth in a completely
...different fashion. Instead I had a completely hands off home water birth, and I caught the baby. I did not hemorrhage this time. It went off completely without a hitch! :)
